Google adds Navigation to Maps on Android 1.6 in the U.S.

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Google has announced that it has added the same voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation capability as possessed by Android 2.0 to its Android 1.6 platform.

The new navigation-capable version of Maps is available in the United States through the Android Market.

T-Mobile’s G1 and myTouch 3G currently run the Android 1.6 operating system and can therefore run the new Google Maps Navigation app.
