Google has released a new version of Gmail for Android (and iPhone).  The new app features faster auto-completion for addresses on all phones, and supports keyboard shortcuts on Android devices with a physical keyboard.

So G1 users, you have keyboard shortcuts.  The rest of you?  You just get faster email address auto-completion only.

Google did mention that it did a major overhaul on the base code for Gmail for Android/iPhone, and that the new version will be easier to extend and update in the future.

Go to gmail.com with your phone’s browser to access the updated mail application.

Let’s just hope this is a fake rumor, because I don’t see a desktop client mentioned in the clients list.

I don’t want to “have” to open Gmail or Google+ if I want to use Google’s Babel…

Its possible voice will be added but probably not at launch
