An Android 4.1 Jelly Bean custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Wi-Fi+3G GT-P6800 variant has been released by XDA Developers member DakiX. Known as the Nexness PRO custom ROM, the said software is based on Jelly Bean build JRO03H from CyanogenMod 10 and AOSP sources and is already rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned.

Moreover, the ROM offers various customizations and tweaks for Wi-Fi, battery life, RAM optimizations, network signals, brightness and display settings, and more.  The ROM also excludes what the ROM developer considers to be bloatware, including the Trebuchet Launcher, Google Street View, Google Plus, Google Messenger, Google Maps, Google Books, Google Magazines, ROM Manager, Google Earth, Android Terminal, and more.

Lacking an official Android 4.1 update, people have opted for custom ROMs for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Nexness Pro ROM is one of the best ones to try out. It comes with the great features that you'd come to expect from Jelly Bean on top of several tweaks that give the tablet overall better performance and battery life.

This guide shows you how to upgrade the Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via Nexness PRO ROM.

is anyone tryed it? Is really everything working, like wifi, gps, cameras etc ?

  • Shawn

tried. works very well. just that don’t know why the chrome doesn’t work- can’t sync bookmark and webpages doesn’t load. anyone know why?

    loaded opera and ok.

but overall it’s a good upgrade. it’s looks like a OS for tablet now instead of phone.

I got wrong resolution, smaller than it should be, everything is large now!

  • CZY

Is it fully functioning ? no minor faulty? Thank You.

  • Shawn

other than chrome doesn’t work, i think the auto brightness is faulty. but the function to control brightness by sliding over task bar really neat. and, there’s a blue line over the contact in the call list.

    happy with the updates.

The resolution issue clarified: There’s around a 40% reduction of screen real estate. HUGE. It’s because the tablet is now a gigantic Galaxy S III. You can tell because the settings say so. This ROM is not optimized for the tablet, let alone the particular screen dimensions of the 7.7.

    • Hyruk

So what are you running on your 7.7 now, Michael? Cyanogen 10? Someone said they decided best is to go back to ICS with Google Now, it’s most stable with negligible loss of speed

  • jho DJ

phone didn’t work at all…anyone can you please help?

  • Hyruk

Does anyone know of any good jellybean ROM supporting the Phone module and integrated contact features of the gt-p6800? Will the Austrian ICS update manually iinstalled support the Phone features? Im in Dubai and Somesing didnt include our country even in /ics updatte so still running stock honey!

    • Khan

Yes it will support phone features. Myself I manually upgraded to ICS a few days ago and it works perfectly

  • Galaxy

    Very good.. fast internet..

  • David

I had 2 Cyanogen ROMS. First was a phablet and made the tablet look like a huge phone (sIII). Flashed an older ROM and it looked good but had too many bugs. Reverted back to ICS now. I think ill wait for a less buggy one.

Have the resolution “issues” been fixed on this one? Any other known issues/bugs?

  • Art

Update is good to have JB version but still unresolved issues in getting Exchange mail synchronization, only part of mails can be synced, also resolution is slightly bigger in one or two apps that couldn’t accommodate. Any advice? If so, can it be down to ICS but how?

  • sparkking

i have problem with samsung 7.7 camera shutter is very slow to capture image. what to do? any application to make it faster? even samsung tab 7 works fast… thanks alot.

  • maya

Why the online streaming can not playback upon updatE? Is there any need for flash player to install?

    • marcosss

      try installing MX player

  • Javi

I follow all the steps and tablet work fine, but if I tried to change advances setting said that is Galaxy SIII setting. For example, I can´t change the keyboard

    • marcosss

I have managed to get swiftkey on mine, it works perfectly, the only bug in the whole thing is that chrome will not run.

  • Kirsten

Hi i need some help. My papago navigation is not getting full screen after using this rom. though the program supports 800×1280 resolution, its no longer the case after the installation of the Nexness pro rom JB4.1.1 ? does the rom modify the screen resolutions? my papago is only on 6″ image instead full 7.7″ image.

    Please help
