Jelly Bean has arrived on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3113 — in the form of a leaked OTA firmware update, that is.  The latest goodies from leaksters brings Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean to the said tablet via software version update XARCLI.

What this means is that you can now try what Jelly Bean might feel like on your tablet.  Although, as usual, since this is leaked firmware, this may still be a test build with issues and bugs.  This also means that Jelly Bean is being readied for the tablet and that the final, official build will soon be rolling out.

This guide shows you how to upgrade the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3113 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean build XARCLI (leaked firmware).

Warning

Requirements

Instructions

  1. Copy the Jelly Bean firmware build XARCLI OTA update file to your tablet's external storage (microSD card).
  2. Turn off your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
  3. Reboot the tablet into Recovery Mode. To do so, hold down the Volume Up and Power buttons. When the screen turns on, release the Power button but keep pressing the Volume Down button until the tablet boots into recovery.
  4. Select Apply update from external storage and select the XARCLI OTA update file.
  5. The tablet will reboot after applying the update. If it doesn't, go back to the main recovery menu and select Reboot system now.

Great! You've now upgraded your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3113 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean build XARCLI (leaked firmware).

Easy upgrade to jb…. but now my mic doesnt work. Any fix?

  • nana

Nyc way of experiencing jb before official release….few bugs: mic doesnt seem to work
Messed up orientation settings (auto rotate works perfectly and once u disable it da orientation remains in da state dat it was in b4 u disabled auto rotate….so far so good….however, once disabled some application can still by pass nd activate ot like youtube app even though auto rotate is dis abled)
Auto brightness doesnt work either…..once u select autobrightness it sets brightness to lowest possible regardless of ambient lighting conditions
Da initial boot after update is a bit laggy, just resart da tab nd everythn is perfect
Also there is no way of checking battery percentage from home screen
Wallpaper setting is also messd up, da image u select has to be perfectly square otherwise da image will stretch or u end up with black edges (once u update, u will see wat i mean)
I just noticed this as i was typing dis comment….u knw dat little pop up thn dat comes up wen u press nd hold da dot (.) And comma (,) key….it shows add8tional keys….well dat window has been enlarge, more like stretchd so now it look pixilated….a little annoying
?……..once i find anythn, i will update….but nyc rom overall…..project butter can be felt somehow

I also upgraded. I like it overall. Mic does not work as others have said. Auto-brightness sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Some text looks a bit blurry to me but that could just be me. Everything else seems to work rather well. Looking forward to a full release. Does anyone know..when Samsung does release the upgrade will I have to downgrade to 4.0.4 and then upgrade through kies or is there a way to go straight to the full release.

Update is working good,so far.I did get a message saying that auto updates were disabled because the device had been modified.I guess that means reverting back to 4.04 when the official OTA comes out.Is there anyway to root the device with JB installed?

I just started updateing the official update (381.05 MB) from Samsung. I am about 15% done. I wonder is it will be 4.1.1, 4.1.2, etc… I will let you know! I am excited!

    • TrumanLCA

  • Rachael

I did the update a week/so ago, and everything seems to be running fine, but I can’t find the option to turn off auto rotate anymore… I really like it for when I’m reading on Kindle so I can lay down and the screen doesn’t keep rotating on me. Hopefully there’s still a way to turn it off???? Help!
