Galaxy S4, Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update tipped for late January by French carrier SFR
While Samsung is yet to properly announce Android 4.4 KitKat update plans for its current line of flagship devices – and not only flagship models, since KitKat has been optimized to work on mid-range as well – it appears that SFR France is ready to offer KitKat-related news to its subscribers that own high-end 2013 Galaxy handsets.
On its smartphones blog, the company posted a short message saying that the Android 4.4 update should be available next year to SFR Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 buyers sometime between late January and early February.
Actual release dates for the update aren’t provided, and we’ll remind you that just recently the same carrier announced a KitKat update delay for the LG G2 (that update is reportedly arriving next year not sooner). Even so, mobile operators should still have more details about upcoming major Android for some of their most popular devices.
Assuming that the KitKat update does roll out in late January in France, we should see other international carriers release the update for their own Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 versions around the same time.
In the meantime, several Samsung devices are receiving their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, so better enjoy that one while you wait for KitKat to arrive. We’ll also note that the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition is already running the latest KitKat version available – Android 4.4.2.
