In the past couple of days, numerous Samsung Galaxy S3 updates were leaked, one of the latest is software version UVDLI8 of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for the T-Mobile variant (SGH-T999). XDA Developers member djintrigue808 has taken advantage of the leaked OTA update and crafted his very own custom ROM known as FrostyJB.

FrostyJB is pretty much the same as the UVDLI8 Jelly Bean ROM leak, but it has been modified so that it can easily be flashed using ClockworkMod Recovery.  Basically, all the essential Jelly Bean features are present in the ROM like the smooth buttery interface, Google Voice, smarter keyboard, and the faster web browser. What's even better is that FrostyJB is already rooted and has also been stripped of all T-Mobile bloatware.

This guide shows you how to upgrade the Galaxy S3 T999 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via FrostyJB custom ROM.

  7. Go to the main menu and select Advanced. From there, select Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
  8. Select Install ZIP from SD card, then select Choose ZIP from SD card. Browse for the downloaded ROM file and select it. Confirm the installation by selecting Yes on the next screen. The ROM will now start installing on your phone.
  9. Repeat steps 6 and 7.
  10. Go to Advanced and select Fix permissions.
  11. After the ROM finishes installing, head back to the main recovery menu by selecting Go back then select Reboot system now to reboot your phone.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed the FrostyJB ROM on your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999.

Paul and I.T. are synonyms. If you need help with I.T.-related stuff, call on Paul. His experience with Android phones goes way back to the ancient single-core-phone days. But, he keeps himself up to date, so now he has a dual-core beast in his pocket, and is looking forward to getting his first quad-core monster, and when it comes, his first eight-core phone. Perhaps he should be called Mr. X-Core, where "X" equals the number of CPU cores.

Awesome! Only problem is with the camera function. There’s a bug that needs to be worked out with viewing pictures. If this was fixed it would be perfect!

ok one problem how do i know
ClockworkMod Recovery is installed on my phone n when i am doing the step 3 mentioned here it is just usually starting my phone like normal.

step 3 is actually wrong here. You have to actually hold all three buttons down and then when you feel the phone vibrate when its turning on, let go of the power button but contnue to hold the volume up and home button. It will then boot into CWM.

Guys you should all go to the actual frosty jb page on xda for the updated rom and correct info. The latest update is frosty jb 4.1.1-v2. For starters this rom is based off of li6 and li7 and not li8. Li8 had battery issues so the developer chose not to use li8. Frosty jb is the best jb rom that I’ve used so if you want an awesome jb rom frosty is it. Google frosty jb xda and go from there so you can stay up to date and have the correct instructions and info. Peace!

i have tried frosty v1 and v2 and do far v1 send to function better. i did a full wipe before installing v2 but i am getting issues with dsp manager, email, message service, and others. Message says “email (or whatever app) has stopped”. back to v1 and try v3 later this week hopefully less buggy. i loved all the toggles in v2 especially the flashlight and hotspot. I’ll keep trying frosty updates until i get one that doesn’t bug me out cuz they’re super fast, super functional.
