One of the main requirements in order to program a CDMA phone is knowing the Master Subsidy Lock code (MSL number). This code is useful, most especially when you are trying to program a mobile telephone number. If you’re one of the many users who still can’t find out where the MSL number is located on your Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710, then we’ve got some good news for you.

Owners of non-rooted Sprint Galaxy S3 phones can easily get their MSL number just by using an application known as Get My MSL. You can grab your copy by heading to the Google Play Store. But, for those who have rooted devices, the Get My MSL application will definitely not work. However, you can still acquire your MSL number by using the manual method. Check out our guide below for the full details,

You need to roll back to LJ7 (stock 4.1.1 ROM) available at SamMobiles website here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SPH-L710&pcode=0#firmware

Once you roll back don’t root the phone or do anything else, just download the getmymsl app from the play store and you should be able to retrieve it. Once you have it write it down and ref-flash your custom ROM and re-root your phone

You will have to use Odin to flash to stock ROM BTW, but the process is super simple to roll back. Just remember to factory reset/wipe caches before booting into the stock ROM or it can get really buggy.

Pain in the ass but it will work.

Download from Google Play Store (Get My MSL) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=get+my+msl
Dial ##3282# Click on Edit and put 000000 It will say error thats fine
Now open the file you downloaded from google store and click the button that says Get My MSL and now you have your unlock code
Now go back to your dialer and dial ##3282# put the code in now it works

i have the same problem please help i rooted my device and flashed the zip and everything and it just shows a blank line im on a sprint s3

    • mygarbarge

This can be done WITHOUT Rooting the phone and without using “Get My MSL”
You will need to install Android Terminal Emulator, a useful app afterwards, unlike Get My MSL.

Dial pad, dial ##3282#, “Edit”, enter six zeros in the blank field and select “OK”

Immediately return to ATE and enter “getprop ril.MSL” then a carriage return (Enter).

You should see your six digit MSL on the next line.
