Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update now rolling out for international Galaxy S3 LTE

Samsung is offering a new year’s treat to its international Galaxy S3 LTE users by releasing the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the device. The update, which is out now for Galaxy S3 LTE GT-I9305, brings several new features and enhancements to Samsung’s flagship smartphone.

Samsung has been consistent in releasing Android updates for Galaxy S3, as it’s the company’s most popular Android device with millions of units sold worldwide. While it’s reported that the update is rolling out in all regions, Samsung is pushing it in phases, which means the update might not be available to users from all countries or carriers at this moment.

So far, the countries were the Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S3 has started rolling out are:

  • Austria
  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Switzerland

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 LTE brings many new features that first came on the Galaxy Note 2, including the multi-view feature that allows users to multitask with multiple windows at one time, a new stock Gallery app, a new notification panel, and the ability to disable the brightness slider.

The Galaxy S3 LTE update also brings the smart rotation feature, as well as two new apps, the Paper Artist app and Group Cast app.

To update your international Galaxy S3 LTE to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, open the settings app and check for updates. The firmware serial number is JZO54K.

  • Where do you get this terrible information from? I am in HK with the i9305 and have had no update at all, my friends who have the same phone also have not yet recieved it… ?

    I have the S3 LTE (UK), how comes I cannot manually search for updates? I open up the settings and go to ‘about device’ but there is no option for this, why is it missing on my phone? Can anyone help me with this?
