Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was introduced in the recent Google I/O 2012 exhibition and soon afterwards the Jelly Bean update rolled out in the form of an OTA update for the Galaxy Nexus GT-I9250.

For those of you who don’t know it yet, Jelly Bean is the latest addition to the ever-growing versions of Android. Jelly Bean brings a lot of enticing new features to the table, such as faster performance, offline voice typing, refined Google Search functionality, and a whole lot more.

Thanks to XDA Developers member Faryaab, who managed to port the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM to the Galaxy S3, owners of the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 can now enjoy it first-hand on their phones. Since this is an unofficial port, some features may still not work and users might experience some bugs that need to be weeded out. As a reminder, you should use this ROM only to try out Jelly Bean and not as a replacement.

To get the latest Android, check our guide on how to update the Galaxy S3 I9300 to unofficial Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Paul and I.T. are synonyms. If you need help with I.T.-related stuff, call on Paul. His experience with Android phones goes way back to the ancient single-core-phone days. But, he keeps himself up to date, so now he has a dual-core beast in his pocket, and is looking forward to getting his first quad-core monster, and when it comes, his first eight-core phone. Perhaps he should be called Mr. X-Core, where "X" equals the number of CPU cores.

Guys Don’t try this mostly functions not working, wait for S3 JB

I just did this an hour ago….
Calls – My friend can recieve my calls but from my SGS3 i cant hear the ring.
    no 3g high speed connectivity
hold the power button to get other options and only power off, sound options and flight mode available

for a second there i thought i ruined my phone but i restored it and its now safe
if Android Authority could make these specifics more transparent before giving us the guide to root the JB into our firmware, it would ease the SGS3 owners not to be skeptical in conducting such experiments

I am impatient, i want to have the JB but i hear its only releasing by Sept.
If Android Autority could give us a more fixed version of the JB zip that we could root for SGS3…. with more clear idea of what we would expect in terms of the bugs etc that would be awesome

Also could you tell me which is best place i can hype up my phone with the best firmware and other apps for SGS3…. ive started exploring on how to make my phone feel the way i want it….

I had a taste of the JB I like it and look forward to your suggestions

thanks and Android Authority is awesome :)

Smooth install. On boot speech to text engine failed, three error messages. Cancelled through each and boot to 4.1. completed. Nice 4.1 X splash. No radio or WIFI functionality. No phone, no cellular data or WIFI. This version will leave you with access to your local information, but you can’t touch the outside world yet.

build 3 is released. Most functionality like wifi and cellular has been restored. It’s still a little buggy but it works quite well.
