Installing custom ROMs on our Android devices is an exciting but risky activity. Although we can get awesome results after a successful installation, there are still chances that we may mess up and end up bricking our devices. Many would say that to assure your success in flashing ROMs, research is very much needed. You should know your device and what precautions you should take before proceeding. And, of course, you can't go about installing custom ROMs if you don't have custom recovery installed on your devices.

ClockworkMod Recovery is probably the most used custom recovery. It is fairly easy to install and to navigate around, too. A touch version was also made for a lot of devices and today, a flashable version of ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0 is now available for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989. A few extras were added in, making your experience with this custom recovery even better.

Props to XDA Developers member sk8erwitskil for porting this touch version of ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0 and for adding useful extras to it. This custom recovery is a flashable ZIP file that needs an older version of ClockworkMod Recovery for you to successfully install it.

This guide shows you how to install ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2 for the Galaxy S2 T989.

Requirements

• A T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 with ClockworkMod Recovery installed.

• Your phone's USB cable.

• Make sure your phone's battery is charged up to 75% or more to avoid interruptions during the process.
• Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.

Instructions

1. Copy the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery package to your phone's internal SD card.
2. Switch your phone off and boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. To do this, press and hold down the Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power buttons together until the screen turns on.
   • NOTE: You can use the Volume keys to navigate and the Power button to select an item or option in Recovery.
3. Select Install ZIP from SD card.
4. Select Choose ZIP from SD card and locate the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery ZIP file that you copied to your phone. Select the file and confirm the action on the next screen to start installing ClockworkMod Touch Recovery to your phone.
5. Once installation is done, select Go back and select Reboot system now.
