Surely, as long as there are improvements, it doesn’t matter what number it’s assigned?

    • MasterMuffin

4.3 would mean that the update is smaller (not like from GB to ICS). 5.0 would mean BIG ÜBER COOL update :)

      • thvf

I agree. I really hope it’s klp or else ill be very dissapointed

Whatever is the release’ number I just wish that they add some great features to improve the usability of android and specially android tablets because they’re until now not supported enough and the big screen size isn’t well used for example find me a difference between android on nexus 4 and nexus 7 nothing but the bigger screen of the 7 (and the pre-installed camera app), so I guess that android for tablets should be optimized in order to get the benefits of the bigger screen with a features such as multi windows maybe

    • MasterMuffin

New Google Play for tablets is so much better looking than the phone version, it’s the reason why I have my Google Play set to 160DPI

      • Danny Solon

But it’s not just about Google play, it’s about the OS itself it doesn’t provide optimized options for tablets

        • MasterMuffin

          I know, just sayin’ :)

The android tablet UI is different. You can run split screen apps on a tablet. UI change was in honeycomb, split screen was 4.1 I believe.

I guess I don’t have a Nexus 7 and I know some of the differences (tablet UI, split screen, etc) are triggered by the screen size. Maybe 7″ isn’t big enough to trigger?

      • Danny Solon

You can split the screen on Samsung tablets or some new phones for example the note 2 which has a 5.5″ screen can split the screen so I think that 7″ is more than enough, then Samsung phones and tablets are the only android devices that can split the screen because they run a customized version of android ui called nature ux or something like that but what I’m talking about is the pure version of android, it doesn’t have this feature

I actually don’t mind Google holding off Key Lime Pie 5.0. I want to be shocked and surprised again like when Ice Cream Sandwich (or Jelly Bean) came out; I want Key Lime Pie to knock my socks off. As long as this delay makes Key Lime Pie as great as we want it to be, Jelly Bean 4.3 is fine by me.

  • Sudeepto Dutta

I guess the reason being the kernel that’s gonna be used in KEY LIME PIE…

I am not sure but for Android 5.0.1 , Google’s gonna be using kernel version 3.8 which is currently being used by Linux users on their devices…

I am using kernel version 3.8.1 on my Ubuntu …

So I believe Google needs some time before they can finish up with “key lime pie” & by that time Linux users might be shifting to kernel version 3.9 too :)

    That’s what I think :)

As long as it works on my Sony Ray smartphone I’m fine with it.

  • RaptorOO7

Works for me, not a big deal and perhaps the other OEM’s can get off their lazy arses and put out 4.2.2 or go straight to 4.3 instead of these stupid 4.1.2 and 4.2.0 updates.

    • http://www.facebook.com/johnphillip.saayman John-Phillip Saayman

Agree, now the s3 can just skip right to 4.3, or 4.2.2 if it has to

More optimization please so we can have even more buttery smoothness

I’d be happy just getting jelly bean period. As an at&t Samsung Galaxy Note i7l7 user, we haven’t been counted worthy to receive the jelly bean update. :-/

Root and custom ROM it…MUCH quicker. :-)

      • William Swalley

Not when you want multi Window and other s pen features.

        • Cole Raney

You can back those apps up though using apps that you can get since your device is rooted.

Doubt the marketing department will miss the chance to brand the new release as KLP or 5.0 or whatever, even if there are significant upgrades to the software, people would just point at the name and say “stagnation” because it didn’t change. Plus Google just likes adding those statues to their garden.

    Custom ROMS FTW!

  • Aziz Farhi

What ever Google is cooking in their kitchen unless you fellas have one of the Nexuses it won’t matter for a while :) .. at least till you buy one or a fully working custom ROM shows up.

  • pratyush rohilla

great article about android new version. it is good news for android lover.
hope so it will be better than android 4.2
the next version of Android to be released will be version 4.3. I haven’t seen any concrete evidence that 4.3 will be called Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie.
