There are already a handful of custom ROMs for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch SPH-D710 (Sprint), which just shows how much attention it is getting from developers all over the Internet. Now there is another custom ROM developed for the device and it’s not like any other ordinary custom ROM. Called HyDrA ROM, this custom ROM has a mixed user interface of a phone and a tablet. It may sound weird but it looks good, especially since it’s Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

XDA Developers member VeNuM and a team of other developers created HyDrA ROM with a tablet interface for the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch. The ROM is based on AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) sources, which means that you get the tablet look plus the performance and additional customization options that AOKP ROMs have. Unfortunately, because the tablet UI was not made for smaller displays, icons and text are very small, which can be a problem for the meantime. But if you just want to have fun, HyDrA ROM is worth trying out.

  • Jeff Gordon

For some reason, on my phone the HOME button, not the POWER button, worked to choose items in recovery. At some point it changed to the back button…. also why does it say 9100 (not 710??)… uh oh

the ONLY other problem i have is that my PC now doesn’t read my SD card. ANY THOUGHTS on what the problem could be?

    • alyssa

actually, when i go to settings/storage it says BACKGROUND DATA RESTRICTED. It is reading my SD card because i can see the total/available space… is this an MTP problem and if so, can we change this?

    • lkhjr

Most smart phones you hit the power key and the home key at the same time, and release them.

How do I access the sd card once installed?

  • Tweetyheard

Apparently my Samsung S2 Epic 4G Touch was pushed the ICS upgrade. Was in the middle of creating a text message when the phone “took over.” It did its thing, rebooted, and suddenly it was like having a phone that mostly looked and acted like the phone I’d just used 3 minutes prior, but with some subtle and not so subtle (like copy/paste functions) differences. The oddest was the change to to my Contacts. I noticed several email addresses and phone numbers for some Contacts were updated–and were WRONG. How could that have happened? **scratches head***
