Custom ROMs come in all sorts of flavors and one of the interesting builds out there is the phablet version that combines phone and tablet user interfaces. If you've been here a while, you'll be familiar with the name ParanoidAndroid.

Thanks to XDA Developers member KBizzle, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch SPH-D710 on Sprint will now be able to experience this new breed of ROM which is unique in many ways because it will turn any phone into a hybrid with tablet capabilities while remaining as sleek as a phone.

The ParandoidAndroid ROM is powered by Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and brings a ton of features, including a smooth buttery interface, expandable notifications, a smart keyboard layout, a faster web browser and a whole lot more.

The tablet-like user interface is great for phones like the Sprint Epic 4G Touch as it will transform your phone into a versatile piece of hardware that allows you to scale and size different applications. However, don't expect this ROM to be bug-free, as it is still a work in progress.

This guide shows you how to flash the ParanoidAndroid ROM for the Epic 4G Touch D710.

Paul and I.T. are synonyms. If you need help with I.T.-related stuff, call on Paul. His experience with Android phones goes way back to the ancient single-core-phone days. But, he keeps himself up to date, so now he has a dual-core beast in his pocket, and is looking forward to getting his first quad-core monster, and when it comes, his first eight-core phone. Perhaps he should be called Mr. X-Core, where "X" equals the number of CPU cores.

Worked! Was very easy (if you’ve done such before). Looks …a bit different than my 2.3.6 ROM. Different Good! Will post again with report on battery life and glitch factor. THANK YOU!!!!!

I installed CWM via ODIN and when I go into Recovery, the Power button won’t select anything. I can’t clear cache or install from ZIP and when I pull the battery it starts back up in Recovery. Any ideas on how to resolve?

WTF?!!!!! I followed steps 1 thru 8 in installing the CWM and everything worked as the instructions said it would. When I got to step 1 in installing paranoidandroid i accidently clicked on wipe data before i copied both files to my sd card. Now my phone won’t get pass the start up screen. It says the model samsung galaxy s2 gt i1900 with a yellow triangle. What do I do? someone please help.

See my post for a fix

    • gauge

Even if you didn’t wipe the data this still would not have worked. This ROM is for the sprint epic 4g touch which is a galaxy s2 d710 but it runs on the cdma network. Your phone is a galaxy s2 gt i1900 which runs on the gsm network…..the point is either way you would probably brick your phone.

Boot back into recovery and select mounts and storage, then select mount USB storage then when the window comes up drag both the ROM and gaps into the folder. Now UN-mount USB storage flash the ROM then flash the gaps and I should be good to go.

I downloaded everything and I installed the recovery and the menu opens just fine yet when I try to boot my phone so I can import the zip files to my sd my phone just stays at the reboot screen.
