Requirements

• Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 with ClockworkMod Recovery installed. Check our guide on how to root XXJVU and install Clockworkmod Recovery on the Galaxy S.
• Download the following:
  • ParanoidAndroid ROM (pa_galaxysmtd-2.54-09NOV.2012-184906.zip, md5sum: 4125d251760619cb4c16b107614a4df7)
  • Google Apps (GApps) package (gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip, md5sum: c4a07a24e11448824b84e314600cd357)
• Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.

Instructions

1. Copy the ParanoidAndroid ROM and GApps packages to your phone's SD card
2. Switch off your phone.
3. Boot your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery by pressing the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons until recovery boots.
4. Create a NANDroid backup of your current ROM. Go to Backup and Restore > Backup.
5. Select Wipe Data/ Factory Reset > Yes.
6. Select Install ZIP from SD Card > Choose ZIP from SD Card > select the ParanoidAndroid ROM file > Yes.
7. Repeat step 6 to flash the GApps package.
8. Select Wipe Cache Partition > Yes.
9. Select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache > Yes.
10. Select Go Back > Reboot System Now.

Congratulations! You have successfully flashed the ParanoidAndroid ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.
