This custom ROM is expected to be fast, reliable, and “Superfunctional.” We know that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is promises a fast and sleek interface improvement and many other features. These features include enhanced and workable notifications, helpful information cards using Google Now, a brilliant voice-supported Google Search, and an excellent and smart stock keyboard.

Like most other custom ROMs, X-Bean is a work in progress. Some features may not operate as expected. One of these features is 3G video calling, which is only available in a stock Samsung ROM. Nevertheless, video calls through 3rd party apps, like Skype, function. Features like the FM radio and other apps may not be present, as these features are only available in stock ROMs.

Phone keep on restarting and showing devil kernel page after applying the x bean zip file on installation.
    Fix:
    1. Remove Battery
    2. Get into Recovery Mode (It will shows up as devil kernel recovery)
    3. Full wipe everything
    4. Install xbean zip file again
    5. Wait and Magic :)

Thank you, This totally worked for me. You have to be patient with the loading screen after you’ve rebooted though, because it takes some time to set everything up.

      thank you mery much

  • KA-Scha

Works very fine, but after installation the phone wants a password after booting.
You have to start in recovery after installation and have to wipe everything once more – after that the phone boots and work great.
The Devil Kernel is very fine. Thanks for this grat work.

I am not getting any network after update, wifi seems to be working fine…whats the way out?

  • maclee4real

Camara, radio, video, external sd and so on does not work, stock build is still the best

    • KA-Scha

Network, Camera, Video and SD Card is OK. Radio I don´t use, but I think the FM Radio is only in Stock Build available.

    Thanks for this clear tutorial.
Though I managed to install XXJW4, I seem to have no longer the CWM installed!? I had it before installing XXJW4 (while still running XXJVU) but now it looks like the factory recovery menu…
    Please, can you help?
    Thanks very much

4.0.4 worked better. First, bluetooth is not working like it should. I have integreted bluetooth in car and hands-free in my ear. 1. Phone cannot connect with the car anymore. It connects with hands-free in my ear but when it is connected with my ear then it is trying ever minute to connect also with car. And then it gives notification every minute that it cannot connect with car. Is there any possibility to tell the phone that when it is connected with ear then it does not have to connect with car.

4.0.4 showed always missed calls. Return button went white.

Thanks for this. I managed to upgrade my Android Samsung Galaxy S from Eclair (2.1) all the way to Jelly Bean (4.1.2). Very happy with the outcome!

    Some notes for others:

    1) You can use the latest X-Bean 3.0.zip (it works!)

    2) In the requirements they ask you to install ClockworkMod first and then upgrade. The upgrade deletes your ClockworkMod apps, and hence prevents you from seeing the correct “Recovery Mode” (only 4 options, not the necessay 8 or so, including Advanced). You should upgrade first and then install the ClockworkMod apps. You need to get the right version number (JW4, not JVU) – get this from http://download.chainfire.eu/155/CF-Root/SGS/CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.zip

    Good luck.
