While the word on Google's latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is spreading like wildfire across the world, Galaxy Note GT-N7000 users are interested about the latest Ice Cream Sandwich update dubbed as XXLRG. Though the update was rolled out on German shores, it can be installed to the international variant of the Galaxy Note. We recognize that some are just itching to root this new firmware so we're delivering a rooting method just for you.

Samsung brought together smart functional features into one responsive and beautiful device–the Galaxy Note GT-N7000. It's the transition of a smartphone to a tablet, giving you that wide 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display fitting a tablet and, at the same time, the handy and nifty features of a smartphone.

The XXLRG update makes the phone even smoother. If you don't understand what rooting us, allow us to enlighten you with a beginner’s guide to rooting your Android device.

  1. Copy the CWM.zipto the external SD card of your phone.
  2. Copy the SuperSU-Busybox-Installer.zipto the internal storage of your phone.
  3. Switch your phone off.
  4. Reboot it into Recovery Mode. Press the Volume Up key, Home button, and the Power button at the same time until the display turns on. To navigate in recovery, use the Volume keys to scroll up/down and the Power key to select options.
  5. From the main recovery menu, select the Apply Update From External Storage option. Locate the CWM.zip file and confirm the installation. The phone will then boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. It's touch-based so navigate and select options using the screen.
  6. In the ClockworkMod Recovery menu, select the Install ZIP From SD Card option. Afterwards, select the Choose ZIP From SD Card option and locate the SUPERSU-Busybox-Installer.zip to flash it.
  7. Confirm the installation by selecting Yes – Install SUPERSU-Busybox-Installer.zip on the screen that will follow.
  8. Once flashing is done, your phone will already be rooted. Go back to the main recovery menu and select Reboot System Now to reboot your phone.
  9. Open SuperSU application from your app drawer and update the su binary.

Great! You've just rooted your Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 running on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich build XXLRG. Watch for modifications and hacks for this firmware!

    ClockworkMod Recovery menu can’t select anything… keeps on rebooting CWM. Had to remove the battery. Tried it many times. I had ICS 4.0.3 rooted before. What did I do wrong?

    Is it possible to root my GT-N7000 note using the described procedure for kernel XXLRG?
    After successfully rooting I would like to install the stock rom N7000XXLPY-N7000OXLP5-TPH (downgrade from android 4.0.4 to 4.0.3 ) which use my own language pt. Is it possible ? What is the best way to downgrade? using Odin ?

    There are a few errors in the steps.
    For the CWM, get it from here http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-n7000.zip

    Step2: The SuperSU-Busybox-Installer.zip should go into your sd card, not the internal memory of your phone
    Step5: The CWM Recovery can be controlled using the volume buttons too, it is not touch based (I Think)
