Just a few days ago we received official confirmation from Samsung that an 8-inch Android tablet is in the works and will be unveiled at MWC 2013, the Galaxy Note 8, and soon after that we got the first purported image of the device.

Now we have even better pictures of the tablet in action and, as you can see, the 8-inch tablet is, well, just a bigger Galaxy Note 2 model. On top of that we also have an idea of what specs and features it will have to offer. Here’s what you can expect from this new Android tablet:

  • 8-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution
  • 1.6GHz quad-core processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16/32GB storage
  • 5-megapixel camera
  • 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera
  • microSD support
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
  • A-GPS
  • 3G support
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • USB 2.0
  • 4600mAh battery
  • Weight: 330g
  • Size: 211.3×136.3×7.95 mm
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • S Pen support and apps

We have no idea when the Galaxy Note 8 will be released, but we should definitely get more details about it at MWC in about a month or so, not to mention that the Galaxy Note 8 leaks will continue to hit the web in the coming weeks.

Anyone looking to buy Samsung’s response to the iPad mini?

That is officially the biggest phone eva. Because that’s… a phone.

Not really, there have been bigger phones. Hell, you can call with the Asus Padfone (10.1), albeit differently.
Still, 8″ is big, You look weird calling with it, if you can’t even hold it with 1 hand.

More likely a tablet with support for 3G data. Which is great.

Though at the rate the phone screens get ridiculously larger and larger, you may wonder whether 8″ phones are really that far away ;-)

a gsm chip would be useful…. use a bluetooth head set for voice …. sounds plaiusible and would replace both the s3 and tab 2 7.0 in a single device

If it really has a retarded physical home button I won’t get it, or if it is over $250 I will not either, I will pay premium to be able to use a wacom digitizer on a tablet, but not a stupid $100 ripoff premium

I know that the original 5.3″ note, was a success, albeit a risk. Nobody knew if it was going to. Happy with the 2nd edition which it deserved, and a tablet in the Note-series. The first note was already in the category Phablet, but this, this is a Tablet man! Not a Phablet.

Still, keep it as a tablet. You can’t call with the stupid iPad mini…

Not so correct to crop the watermark on pics.

I’m liking it, except the back might need a more elegant design. Other than that, i’m hoping this will include the new Smart Scroll and Smart Pause feature!!!

If it has the same price as the nexus 7, maybe.

  • cycad007

Sorry…but that thing looks ugly. I can’t even imagine putting that thing to my ear.

    • Noah

Now why would you try to do that? You would also look silly by putting a laptop to your ear, I don’t see the point.

      • http://www.facebook.com/r.daneel02 Arvind Ramani

hmmm it contains a 3g chip cyad007 imagines a gsm quad band inside 2 i suppose

  • Abdullah Naji

    I can’t wait!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/r.daneel02 Arvind Ramani

does it have gsm chip on it?

  • http://www.facebook.com/r.daneel02 Arvind Ramani

and 250 for 16 gb with 3g and micro sd makes it almost a killer against the n7

gsm would seal the deal :D

At last a tablet with interesting specs! They didn’t SD-castrate it as Google did for the Nexus 7 (or the iPad, but then it’s Apple).

Maybe a modern tablet this size would deserve a better resolution though.

  • habu345

I wanted to see a tablet without physical buttons and why 1280 x 800 resolution
