In case you weren’t able to access the teaser site, it only contains the below video, a sign up form for news about the next Galaxy and some social sharing buttons.
I am sure that many of you are pretty disappointed of this latest teaser video, as it contains almost no actual information about the next Galaxy (or the Galaxy S3, if you want). The clip is fairly generic and ambiguous, with its sweeping galactic imagery and pompous music. Perhaps the most concrete element of the clip is the sheep scene, which many will interpret as a thinly veiled jab at users of that other platform.
Samsung went on this path before, with its high profile Galaxy S2 ads, in which it poked fun at Apple users standing (sheepishly) in line to get their next iDevice. But I am not sure that mocking the customers of its competitor is the way to go for the Korean giant. And besides, Samsung will soon become the world’s largest smartphone maker, so it may be a little silly to call the other side “sheep” when your devices are ubiquitous. I think that Samsung should show a little class, and just focus on its own product and what makes it stand out from the crowd.
However you feel about Samsung’s teasing campaign, you have to admit that it did a heck of a good job of building up hype. Too good perhaps? But again, the video is just a teaser, and from this perspective, it serves the purpose – it got us even more impatient about May 3.
What do you think about this latest tease from Samsung?
