In a speculative short and sweet piece, it would appear as though the G1 is scheduled for an update to Android 2.0 by the end of January and that the G2 will update to 2.0 by the end of March. This news comes via Twitter where a screen-grab has been circulated showing an ‘official internal t-mobile forum’ post by a moderator.

The post itself is not in English and it is possible that these ‘updates’ are only available for the country where this T-Mobile post originated, which is The Netherlands. The moderator who made the post does add ‘dit alles onder voorbehoud’ which means ‘all this with reservation, of course’ but promptly adds a winky smiley face to give the impression he has inside information. Time will tell!
