Here’s our best look yet at the round G Watch R

lg g watch r

LG took us by surprise when it teased the second G Watch launch in just six months, and now it’s back with a new teaser that all but reveals the G Watch R’s design.

LG published the image above on its Facebook page, as spotted by GSM Arena. Playing with the image levels in an editor partially reveals the device, which has a very conventional looking watch design, complete with a large button on the right side that probably wakes up the device.

It’s hard to tell from this image, but the G Watch R appears to be made of metal, while the strap could be leather or silicone. There seems to be a small bezel around the dial, which is an uninterrupted disc, compared to the Moto 360, which has a cutout section at the bottom. LG is making a big deal out of this “full circle” design, hawking the G Watch R as the “first wearable to fully utilize its circular shape.”

From an older report, we know that the G Watch R will feature an AMOLED screen and Snapdragon processor. Other specifications are still unknown at this point, but at least we don’t have a lot to wait until the official launch next week.

Are you impressed with the G Watch R so far? Do you prefer it to the rectangular G Watch or the Moto 360?

Urgh…just looks like a standard cheapo watch. Doesn’t have the class and premium look of the Moto 360.

um… what ‘premium’ look? It’s basically a plain circle, a thick one at that, on a cheap looking strap.

A fat circle on a strap.

I’ll still be picking up the 360 once it’s available. I actually like the flat bottom on the display. It leaves a nice straight line for reading text.

Yup, bezels. I rather go with the Moto. Sure i lose a bit at the end but at least you can’t call it bulky.

  • Amrit Zoad

Not impressed. No new design, No aesthetics like Moto 360

  • Amrit Zoad

What is the need of a Smartwatch with thick bezels & such a small screen size.

  • Mike Bastable

i actually think this looks good, Lg solves the “circle ” issue of Google Gear…..as to wether i actually want one, we will see

    Still Moto 360 or nothing

  • Anonymousfella

This is may have a 100% circular display, but it doesn’t look as classy as a Moto360. If I were to spend 250 bucks on a smartwatch it’d still be the 360

It looks like any standard watch but hey, at least it’s a full circle :D

  • Lup Alexandru

LOL, simple is the new smart, i like it

  • Colts5609

    It….uhhh…..lookalike a watch.

  • Marty

If it has an OLED display, I’ll bite. The Moto360, the watch I was patiently waiting for and wanting really bad, has cut corners and isn’t spec’d with an OLED display like it was widely rumored to have…saddened beyond grief.

still waiting for a GShock smart watch!

    • Aar0nC

that would be amazing! My mudman GShock watch is bullet proof. I can only imagine a smart watch built like my mudman watch!!

  • Alix8821

Still 360… IDC about that black bar on the bottom. At all. Watch looks beautiful. I like a head turning watch. I’m not trying to cover it up, pretend its a “normal watch”

  • gethylogic

If I can put it on my fossil strap then it might tempt me away from the 360, if not then the 360 still has my vote as it looks better. The 360 is modern and contemporary all rolled into one.

  • crutchcorn

    LG or nothing ;P

  • nicolas99

QI wireless charging is important for me, if this one’s got that, it may very well be a contender.

  • ThunderCrackR

Sorry, LG! I prefer only a small part at the bottom than one big bezel all-around the display. Simply looks sleker and more natural!

I haven’t read any comments here… and so this is my ‘clean’ personal opinion:

It looks great. Compared with the Motorolla’s round one, this one looks better, because it looks more like a classical watch.

Motorola’s one looks like a circle on a strap; This LG one looks like an actual watch.
