I just received the full specs for the new Garmin-ASUS A50.

For starters, the phone supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and will be available to carriers with some grouping of the following UMTS 3G bands: 850/900/1700/1900/2100MHz. That would mean it could support 3G on EU networks, T-Mobile USA’s AWS 3G network, or AT&T’s 3G network – depending on what the carrier wished for. Don’t expect to see a version built with all of those bands supported, though.

The OS is Android 1.6 with Garmin-ASUS’ custom Breeze UI on top. The phone runs a 600MHz Qualcomm 7227 CPU, features 256MB of RAM as well as 256MB of ROM, 4GB internal storage, and an 1150mAh battery that is good for up to 3 hours of talk time or 250 hours standby time.

the 4GB of internal memory is nice.

Too many Android Applications are UNavailable for Garmin. Why? HELP! Example: Unable to download Mozilla Firefox, Plaxo from Google, and many other Google applications.

I have had this phone for a year now best little phone i have ever had however im getting a new phone as the battery life is not that great. talk time aprox 3 hours, Surfing the net time around the same with no calls or txt. standby 3 days max thats mabey sending 10 txts no phone calls so usually if i go out friday night full charge my phone is flat sunday morning and i might have only sent a couple of txts. For such a great cheap little phone that just works and has a real garmin gps in it, its such a shame they did not make a bigger battery for it.
