With the advent of a new operating system comes new jobs and new ideas. Android has taken the mobile phone industry by storm and due to its inherently flexible design and scalable nature, it is no surprise that there has been lots of chatter about its uses in Netbooks and other devices.
Fujitsu have announced their intent to spread the seed of Android and have set up a business model to “assist any other company looking to deploy the Android OS”. By my reckoning, Fujitsu are not a member of the Open Handset Alliance, which makes them an interesting choice for companies looking to use custom install builds and deployment strategies. Regardless, Fujitsu are raising the bar of possibilities with suggestions that Android can be used in all sorts of electrical devices, including cars!
This venture is particularly ‘middleman’ in nature (yet similar to what Microsoft did for Windows CE), but also very interesting since it will be the first of its kind for Android. Fujitsu will look to offer training, consultancy and middleware suitable for it client’s needs. As of yet, no details have been given as to how Fujitsu will be charging for its services.
