You’ve seen the limited Olympic Games edition of Samsung Galaxy S3 that will be released in Taiwan and the Samsung Galaxy Note that will be sold in the UK. Being the official sponsor of the big game, naturally the milking doesn’t end there. Amidst the packed schedule of going from one arena to the next supporting your country’s team, it’s easy to misplace small items like your hotel keycard. That shouldn’t be a problem if you bring your Galaxy S3 with you.

Working with the Holiday Inn in Stratford Westfield, Samsung makes sure that your Galaxy S3 can be used as a hotel keycard during the Olympics. More than just unlocking door, guests who own the phone can also use their Galaxy S3 to control the room’s lighting, and as a hotel room phone extension.

Samsung SVP of enterprise and mobile communications Bumchoo Cho said that it’s their goal to provide hotel guests and customers who own the Galaxy S3, with the ability to take advantage of the “effortlessly simple and intuitively smart” technology.

“The project with fellow London 2012 Olympic Games partner Holiday Inn allows us both to bring to live our Olympic Games experience in a way that has never been seen before,” he explained.

The door-unlock feature of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will initially be available only for VIP guests of the hotel. Guests must first download the Holiday Inn Android app on their phone.
