First Huawei Android Ice Cream Sandwich Phone Emerges
In Bucharest today, a small presentation was held detailing some some upcoming phones and tablets that are alleged to be some of Huawei’s first Ice Cream Sandwich devices. Among some of the slides presented by a Swedish official, plans were leaked that the company is planning on coming to market with said devices in early 2012. This is the first rumor we have heard of plans for Android 4.0 devices to come to market from Huawei. Although the blurred image above displayed is not legible, it does look pretty sexy all the same. Additionally, we know that the device is aid to feature a 4 inch or larger screen, like most high end Android devices these days.
In the background there was another smartphone, apparently being more a lower-budget variant. Perhaps we could take this as a sign will focus on this segment in 2012. Which if true could head its way to companies like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile and AT&T GoPhone in the US if released in the US.
With Google set to release the Android 4.0 source code, there will be a mad rush from ODM’s like Huawei, Meizu, and other second tier companies to produce devices for the global market. What we are seeing now is the beginning of a new era, and will result in a glorious bloodbath of competition as manufacturers fight ruthlessly over market share around the globe. Would you ever consider buying a phone from Huawei, Meizu, or any manufacturer that isn’t LG, Motorola, HTC, Sony, or Samsung? Do these phones look interesting to you? Huawei hasn’t released many phones running Android compared to HTC, Samsung and Motorola, but maybe that’s set to change?
