Developers from XDA Developers have surely made our lives easier. One-click packages, scripts, toolkits, and all newbie friendly tools have been created to help users play with their Android devices. You can also root your HTC Evo 4G LTE by using the one click rooting package.

Senior XDA Developers member zedomax has created a rooting package that easily roots your HTC Evo 4G LTE. This tool can be used to root your phone, whether you are using a Windows, Linux, or Mac PC.

If you want to root your phone the noob-friendly way, continue reading the rest of this guide to learn how to root your HTC Evo 4G LTE easily with a click of a button.

Requirements

  • An HTC EVO 4G LTE
  • If using a Windows PC, install the USB Drivers for this phone to your computer. For Linux and Mac users, you don’t need to install the USB drivers.
  • Download the one-click rooting package (Evo4GLTERoot.zip, md5sum: 502d59ee088fc76dc34e05e2075e854d) from either of the following mirrors:
  • WinRAR, 7-Zip, or any file extraction software installed on your Windows computer.
  • Disable software tools such as anti-virus software, firewall programs, and HTC Sync to prevent interruptions while you root your phone.
  • USB Debugging enabled. You can do that by going to Settings > Development Options and enable USB Debugging.
  • Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.
  • For sufficient power, charge your phone’s battery to 60% or more.

Instructions

On Windows

  1. Download the one-click rooting package from the link above.
  2. Extract Evo4GLTERoot.zip to a folder on your computer.
  3. Using the USB cable, connect your phone to the computer.
  4. Go to the folder where you extracted the zip files.
  5. Double click runme.bat to start the rooting process.
  6. After a series of reboots, your phone will now be rooted.
  7. Once complete, you can now disconnect your phone from the computer.

On Linux

  1. Download the one-click rooting package from the link above.
  2. Extract the Evo4GLTERoot.zip to a directory on your computer.
  3. Open a terminal and type the commands below.  The first command below assumes that you extracted the ZIP file into the Evo4GLTERoot directory inside the Downloads directory.  If you extracted the ZIP into a different location, replace “Downloads” with the name of the directory.
    • cd Downloads/Evo4GLTERoot
    • chmod 755 *
    • sudo ./adb-linux devices
  4. Once done, type the command sh runmelinux.sh to initiate the rooting process.

On Mac

  1. Download the one-click rooting package from the link above.
  2. Extract the Evo4GLTERoot.zip to the Downloads directory on your computer.
  3. Open the Command Terminal and type the following commands:
    • cd Downloads/Evo4GLTERoot
    • chmod 755 *
    • sh runmemac.sh

Congratulations! You have successfully rooted your HTC Evo 4G LTE. You can now enjoy rooting privileges and tweak your mobile phone.

Do I need to unlock the bootloader first?

    • Chuck K.

I think you would root the phone before being able to unlock the bootloader. I am by no means an expert on this, so if someone has more correct info please provide it.
