It appears as though the big Apple v Samsung lawsuit has been slowing down. What started as a global frenzy has slowed to a few lawsuits in a few countries. While we’re all happy to see these companies going back to what they’re supposed to be doing, which is making awesome electronics, there is still some unfinished business abroad.

The latest news from the courtrooms is that there won’t be an injuction on Galaxy tablets in the Netherlands. Dutch courts have ruled against Apple in favor of Samsung. So the Galaxy Tab 7.7, 8.9, and 10.1 will remain on shelves.

As per the norm, Apple had claimed that Samsung products looked too similar to Apple products. The resulting similarity supposedly cost Apple a boat load of money. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed. As a result, Apple must pay Samsung’s court fees, which total about 63,678 euros. According to Sammobile, if Apple tries to prevent tablets from being sold in stores, it could cost them up to 100,000 euroes per day.

Is this an important win for Samsung?

You bet it is. Any victory in a battle where a product can be prevented from being sold is a good victory. However, as Sammobile points out, this victory is especially important for Samsung. Samsung does a lot of business in the Netherlands, and that is where they ship their products to other countries. So an injunction in the Netherlands would’ve been a pretty big deal.

While the case is over, there is still that wonderful thing called the appeal process. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 injuction is being appealed by Apple. So this won’t be the last we hear out of the Dutch courts concerning this lawsuit. When will Apple stop this nonsense? Probably never, but we’d like to hear your take on it in the comments.

Lets just say, I will NEVER endorse an Apple product to anyone. I live and breath in the mobile tech world, and its no secret that I have good product knowledge in this market sector. So much so that I constantly have friends and family asking what tablet or mobile to go for, both on Facebook and in general. People will ask “should i go for iPad/iPhone?” and I categorically say “NO”. I have talked countless individuals into NOT buying Apple and I will continue to do so… Why? I see Apple as nothing other than a spoilt bully. Seeking to feed off the innovation of other companies, re-branding ideas, patenting as their own and then trying to sue others that are innovating already. Apple used to be the forefront of innovation, now, Apple has become a copycat, and not even a good one at that. Why did Apple make the iPhone bigger? Wasn’t it Steve Jobs himself who said that a 3.5″ is the optimized size for a mobile phone. Why then make the screen bigger if the iPhone was so perfect? (as they kept saying in their marketing) To keep up with the top Android phones. Apple also has become a copycat in tablets. Jobs once said the iPad’s 9.7in screen was the perfect size, and smaller tablets made no sense. Then Android had success with 7in tablets like the kindle Kindle Fire and the Nexus 7, and now Apple launch the iPad Mini. Talk about thinking different! Apple used to take risks, now, to use a car analogy, six years ago the iPhone was like a sexy new flagship model from BMW or Porsche. Today it’s a Ford Focus. Safe, reliable, boring. The car your mom drives. The car that’s so popular that its maker doesn’t dare mess with the formula. Its this Hypocrisy and Bullyish tactics that makes me detest everything that is Apple, and why I will NEVER purchase or recommend Apple again…

Excellent comment, I too never recommend buying apple products. They only sue any successful companies that have lots of profits and could pay trillions in courts for them, they do this in American courts – in California, near their head quarters.
American courts fight foreign companies such as Samsung and Toyota and seek to destroy their image in the smartphone and car industries to protect their failing American companies. Apple is crumpling and losing ground to much better companies.

Any sane you will recommend Android OS smartphones over iOS devices any time.
Apple doesn’t innovate it steals. iPhone inspire by Sony that’s why they wanted Sony to make them the fucking iPhone Sony told them to fuck themselves aka NO. The tablet idea was Bill Gates idea but yes Apple made it work first. iPod touch was just luck and awesome timing.
