Droidify brings Spotify to Android a little early

We don’t usually do too many posts on applications for Android, but I couldn’t resist this one. Spotify, my favourite online streaming music application has landed on Android in the form of Droidify. It should be noted that this isn’t the official version – just one that has been created by ‘enthusiasts’ while we wait for the real deal from Spotify themselves.

I am sure most of you have heard of Spotify: a legal online music distribution service for streaming music over the internet. Many individuals love Spotify and many music distribution companies do too, so it appears to be win win for everyone. With that said, Swedish artist Magnus Uggla hates the thing. What most people do not know is that Sony BMG owns a chunk of shares in Spotify and many artists receive next to nothing for having their music played there. Uggla is quoted as saying “I’d rather be raped by The Pirate Bay.”

Droidify will do while we wait for the real application to land (coming soon). The only major downfall of this little app is the fact that it does not allow offline play-back. The official one will if you have a Premium Spotify account. Still worth a punt if you ask us.
