It’s always a pleasure to be the bearer of good news, especially when it comes to sharing with people what we know about an impending arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich on their Android devices. But before we do, we just want to make sure you know that this hasn’t been fully confirmed yet by Verizon. With that in mind, owners of Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx may want to mark down June 12 on their calendar, as that’s the date that Verizon apparently will roll out the ICS update for the two Droids.
According to internal sources quoted by CNET, the OTA update to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for both Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx will be pushed out on June 12. While there were plans to bring it out earlier, there was an issue with the server that was supposed to deliver the update — hopefully that’s been dealt with now.
The June 12 date certainly still falls in line with what Motorola has written on its website, where the ICS upgrade roll out for Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx is expected to start in Q2 2012. In this case, the end of the second quarter more like. As always, we’ll let you know once we have more details. Feel free to share with our readers if you have some information or heard otherwise about the ICS update for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx.
Thats my birthday! Awesome
If this isn’t true, it’d be nice for Verizon or moto to say so.
This the date of my birthday too nice
I work for Motorola and I can tell you that its not coming out on the 12th sorry guys!
Free Verizon Message: Your phone will soon be upgraded to Android 4.0. At that time we will remove your Verizon Wireless Mobile IM app because it is not supported on Android 4.0. Please download a new instant messaging app to use IM on your phone. Thank you for using Mobile IM!
Are you having fun. If you were following things you would know the razr will update on the 12th.
How’s that update coming? Not the 12th that’s for sure.
Well you seem to be correct it’s the 13th and no update for Verizon. CRAP!
I work for Cellular One, and I can tell you it is coming out for our phones.
No updates yet … today is 6/13 …
Wow….2 weeks ago I switched from a GS2 on Tmobile to a Razr Maxx on Verizon. My deactivated GS2 now has ICS which is amazing and I can only hope Verizon/Moto follow through with their promise of ICS by months end. Lastly, Verizon’s 3G is pitiful with download speeds of .3 to .5 and I am literally 1000 feet from having LTE at my house where I got 18 to 25 download on my GS2.
Forwarded Text Message received from Verizon Wireless this morning…
I just got that text from verizon about an hour ago.
No text here and I have Verizon IM on my RAZR Maxx…I’m not holding my breath for a badly wanted ICS update. I blame myself wanting the ICS UPDATE…if I wanted ICS I should have purchased a phone with it…not one that was compatible. I’ll remember that on my wife’s upgrade in July…might be going Samsung.
