Droid-Life has put up an interesting article while they were in the midst of reviewing the Droid Razr Maxx which was released today at Verizon Wireless, that both the Droid Razr and the new Droid Razr Maxx are running the exact same software versions, including the same version’s of Motorola’s Application Platform – also known as Moto Blur. So in theory, OTA’s and ROM’s that are made for one of these devices should work perfectly on the other device. All the specs and features are the same except for the massive battery on the Droid Razr Maxx. We borrowed the Screenshot below from Droid-Life to show you that all the software versions are exactly the same all the way down to the same Webtop software version.

It looks like some brave people over at Android Source went and tried this theory out, and flashed the leaked ICS ROM for the Droid Razr with success! But it’s still early so this could change, but so far all signs point to ROM’s and OTA’s working for both devices. Before you flash remember that I, nor Android Authority is responsible for anything that happens to your device.
