Droid Bionic vs iPhone 4S vs Droid Razr

A lot of smartphones are popping out of the market and it’s a pretty hard decision to decide on which one to buy. It’s important to take note of the things that you really want your phone to have, rather than just buy because of the appearance or how the phone is marketed.

Some of the most powerful smartphones that are currently in the market are the Droid Bionic, iPhone 4S, and the Droid Razr. Let’s look into some very important aspects of these three mean machines and find out which is the best among them.

Comparing the Features

Let us first compare the features that these devices have.  Both the Droid Razr and iPhone 4S have GPS navigation, HD playback, microphone, touchscreen keypad, accelerometer, digital compass, and gyroscope. The Droid Bionic also has all of these features except that it has an FM receiver but doesn’t have a gyroscope. If you love to listen to FM radio programs, you would probably opt to have the Droid Bionic than the Droid Razr or the iPhone 4S.

The display of the phone is another important aspect to look into. The Droid Razr has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 960×540 resolution. The iPhone 4S has a 3.5-inch IPS LCD display with a 960×640 resolution. And, the Droid Bionic has a 4.3-inch LCD display with a 960×540 resolution. The Droid Razr’s display also has an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and scratch protection.

What comes along with a great phone is a great camera. All of the three devices have 8-megapixel cameras with a maximum video capture resolution of 1080p. But in this aspect, the iPhone 4S is slightly better with its image stabilization feature.

In terms of connectivity, the Droid Razr and Droid Bionic are better than the iPhone 4S–both are 4G LTE-enabled.  The Droid Razr also has Bluetooth and infrared, mobile hotspot tethering, HDMI and Micro USB ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Droid Bionic is almost on par with the Droid Razr except that it does not have infrared. The iPhone 4S misses out on the infrared, HDMI, and Micro USB–thus, limiting the Apple phone’s ability to stream media to hi-definition screens.

Technical Specifications

We now look into one of the most important quality of a smartphone–its technical specifications. The Droid Razr has Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU, and 1 GB of RAM. The Droid Bionic has very much the same specs as the Razr but has a slower clock speed at 1.0 GHz.

On the other hand, the iPhone 4S has iOS 5 with an Apple A5 (1.0 GHz dual-core) CPU and 512 MB of RAM. In terms of storage, the iPhone 4S is much better because it can have a up to 64 GB of internal memory–greater than that on the two Droid brothers.

As to the dimensions, the Droid Razr is 5.15″ x 2.71″ x 0.28″, the iPhone 4S is 4.50″ x 2.31″ x 0.37″ and the Droid Bionic is 5.02″ x 2.63″ x 0.43″.

It’s a tough call on which phone really is better. The iPhone 4S has an advantage because it has a great camera.  On the other hand, the Droid Razr and the Droid Bionic also have great features and they are LTE-enabled unlike the iPhone 4S, not to mention that the Droid Razr has a stainless steel core and a casing made of Kevlar fiber.

  • that guy

why is there no mention of siri?

  • Siri?? Who cares… Android has multiple apps that has done what Siri does for the past 2 years… minus the goofy comebacks (but lets be honest… that is cool for the first 20 minutes… after that its a bar trick..)

  • Tom

Android also has falling prices. So if it was not worth it before, the Droid RAZR is only $0.01 at Amazon for a limited time.

You can see the details here

The RAZR is definitely a ton more value if not a better phone.
