Amazon is having a one-day sale of its Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 tablet, bringing the cost of the 32GB version down to $299.
The deal is for the Wi-Fi version of the 32GB model only, with special offers included, which means the tablet will display ads while it’s idling. Because the 16GB and 64GB models are not on sale today, the 32GB is actually $20 cheaper than the 16GB model. The device normally costs $429.
The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is an excellent little tablet, especially if you plan to use it primarily for consuming media and apps, perhaps taking advantage of Amazon’s Prime service. The tablet features a crisp 2560 x 1600 display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and 2GB of RAM. Of course, the big caveat is the fact that Amazon’s tablets are not compatible with Google’s Play Store and app suite, though you still get a catalog of 100,000 apps to peruse on Amazon’s own Appstore.
