Cyanogenmod 9 (CM9) for WiFi Asus Eee Pad Transformer

Finally you can now install the Cyanogenmod 9 on your Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Thanks to daxtsu and whitekidney of XDA Developers Forum. The Cyanogenmod is the most popular custom ROM’s out there, now they are bring the Ice Cream Sandwich features in their new CM9 but it’s still in Alpha state so expect some features that doesn’t work.

If you want to try this Cyanogenmod 9, just follow the simple steps below.

Note:

  • Make sure that your device battery is charge at least 60%
  • Backup your device data into your computer.
  • Turn on USB Debugging, on your homescreen tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.

Requirements:

  • WiFi Asus Eee Pad Transformer (rooted and Clockworkmod recovery installed)
  • USB Data Cable
  • Computer
  1. First, download the update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-tf101-KANG-signed.zip file on your computer.
  2. Then, connect your device to the computer using your USB Data Cable.
  3. Next, copy the zip file you downloaded earlier to the root directory of your SD card.
  4. Disconnect your device to the computer.
  5. turn off your device.
  6. Go to Clockworkmod recovery.
  7. Once you’re in the recovery, do a nandroid backup by selecting backup> backup and restore> then backup to start saving your old ROM. (This will make a full backup of your existing ROM, and save it to the SD card. You can restore from this backup, if something gets messed up with the installation.)
  8. Now do a full wipe by selecting Mount and Storage then wipe the following:
    • Format System
    • Format Data
    • Format Cache
    • Go back to main menu and select advance then wipe dalvik-cache.
  9. From the main menu select install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card> then select the update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-tf101-KANG-signed.zip to start flashing the Cyanogenmod 9 ROM.
  10. Go back to main menu and select Reboot System now.
You have successfully updated your phone to Cyanogenmod 9, to install the Google apps, just follow the simple steps below.
  1. Download the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip on your computer.
  2. Then, connect your phone to the computer using your USB Data Cable
  3. Next, copy the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip to the root directory of your SD card.
  4. Disconnect your phone to the computer.
  5. Turn off your phone.
  6. Go to recovery mode.
  7. From the recovery main menu select install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card> then select the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip to start flashing the Google Apps.
  8. Go back to main menu and select Reboot System now.
You have successfully installed the Google Apps but we’re not done yet, we need to fix the mounting of MicroSD so that we can use it. Just follow the simple steps below.
  1. First, download and install the terminal emulator on the Android Market.
  2. Then, run the terminal emulator.
  3. Next, on the terminal emulator type “su” (without the “”) to grant you superuser permission.
  4. After that type in the following commands:
    mkdir /Removable/MicroSD
    mkdir /Removable/SD
    mkdir /Removable/USBdisk1
    mkdir /Removable/USBdisk2
  5. You can now insert your microSD and it can now be recognize by your tablet.
  6. Close the terminal emulator.

Congratulations, you now have successfully updated, installed google apps and fix the mounting of microSD on your Transformer. Enjoy exploring your Asus Transformer running on Cyanogenmod 9.
