CoPilot Live 8 for Android now available for $19.99, sale ends November 30th

copilot-androidAs part of its Thanksgiving weekend super-sale, Alk Technologies is offering its popular GPS navigation software, CoPilot Live 8, for a mere $19.99. CoPilot is an excellent navigation tool for Android 1.5 and earlier devices which lack the navigation feature found in the latest version of Google Maps. For those that do have Google Maps with navigation, CoPilot is a nice alternative for those times when you are without a cellular or WiFi signal as all the map data resides on your handset. Purchase this title through the Android Market or Alk’s website before midnight on November 30th and you will save yourself $15 off the normal retail price of $34.99. Pass the word on to your friends or loved ones who have not jumped on the Android bandwagon as the sale extends to other platforms (Windows Mobile and iPhone) as well.

if i buy the verizon eris, will verizon block the copilot 8 gps app like they do on google maps and tom tom apps?

    • http://www.mobileburn.com/ Michael Oryl

I can’t say for sure, but I highly doubt it. Verizon said in the Google announcement that it would not do that sort of thing.

  • Jim

that is interesting … what announcement specifically can i reference … my experience thus far with verizon has been that they do indeed block 3rd party apps for gps unless you use their monthly paid navigation app … at this point i am wary of purchasing the Eris and then the copilot 8 app only to find out i am unable to use it … but then perhaps i could flash another rom via xda-developers to bypass big red’s control … just wondering out loud here but any info you have of someone actually running copilot on the verizon Eris would be great … i just do not want to be the guni-pig testing the system :)

Thankfully, GPS is unlocked. It works on the Droid. Can try it on the Eris later today, when the 2GB of maps finally download to my phone.

  • Jim

looking forward to how eris works and i assume you are on verison?

  • Susan Ellery

tested it yesterday and it works wonderfully on the Eris. I have used CoPilot on the G1 and it was sluggish. The updated hardware on the Eris makes a difference. The moving map was smooth and the routing/re-routing was quick. CoPilot is a bit quirky at times in the menu system but for the Eris, which at this point lacks turn-by-turn navigation, it is perfect.

  • Jim

great to hear … makes my decision easier … i really do not want the droid keyboard and the eris sense UI was very smooth when i checked it out at the local verizon store … very much leaning towards the eris
