Company now selling T-Mobile G1 unlock codes

Well, that didn’t take long. It seems that somebody has already come up with a way to generate the unlock code for the T-Mobile G1 so that it can be used with other carriers’ SIM cards.

Unlock-TMobile.com is now selling unlock codes for the device. All you need to do is give them your phone’s IMEI code (found by entering *#06# on your phone’s keypad). Oh yeah, you also have to plunk down US$23.99 for the service.

The company says that its code will work for any HTC Dream based device, not just the current T-Mobile versions. They don’t mention anything about configuring the proper APNs in order to get 3G data access working, though, so we’re not sure how functional the device will be when used with a different carrier’s SIM.

For the next two days, the company is offering a full refund to anybody that buys and uses their codes and video tapes the process.
