We reported last week that Acer’s head of mobile phones, Aymar de Lencquesaing, said that his company was working on Android based smartphones. This week we have the IDG News Service reporting that Acer’s CEO, Gianfranco Lanci, has confirmed this at Acer’s Q1 investor’s conference in Taiwan today.
“We are working on an Android solution for the smartphone. I think it’s too early to say if we’re going to see Android on a netbook in the near future.”
According to the IDG story, Acer plans to have the first smartphone running Android available this year.
