Cellular South to offer HTC Hero for only $99.99

cellular_south_hero_cheap It seems that those crazy folks at Cellular South are going to upstage Sprint by offering the same HTC Hero, a fantastic device, for a mere $99.99 with contract. It has also opened up pre-sales for the Hero.

The device is offered on a $79.99 unlimited data, voice, and texting plan. And if you get one of these smartphone plans, you can get a second unlimited smartphone plan for only $39.99. You still need to buy the second Hero, but that’s a pretty good deal for families.

I was told that the phone could come out as early as tommorow, but the official release date is November 2, 2009. I can not wait!!!

do somebody know when launch day cuz i done talked to about 5 ppl from cellular south one say the 2nd the othes say the middle of nov. the other say sometime in nov. i been waiting a month now come on can somebody find out when for me…thank you!!!

The billboards are up in Memphis, so my guess is that 11/2 is the date. I cannot wait.

I spoke to csouth today and was informed the Hero would release Nov 4th. There had been some shipping issues, but it a go now.

was told today by a CS call center employee that it could be the 5th or 6th, that no date was official, and the pre release folks would get a txt or email two days prior to theirs being available for pick up

I do not know what is going on I was given today’s date for the phone to arrive, but now they still do not have a date. I am getting kind of pissed.

yeah i called a lady today she said it was suppose to be there today but it didnt come to the store she said it could be tomorrow just keep checking the site…they messin up they letting everybody release their android phone but them…they keep slippin they gone lose customers…

I’ve heard of release dates on the Hero anywhere from today to Nov. 4th to this Saturday, Nov. 7th, so who the heck knows. But I agree… Cellular South SUCKS at not being able to put a firm release date out there like all of the other carriers seem to be able to do with new phones…

The release date is Nov 5th. Have a few friends that work at CSouth. The only ones that will get the phone on the 5th, are the ones who Pre-ordered. Was also told the phone will be available to purchase online for the ones who didnt Pre-Order. If you order on Nov. 5th, I was told your phone will be in by the next day. Basically, if you didnt Pre-Order, just go online Thursday, and place an order. Its somewhat of a better deal. They will be offering it for $99 online, meaning you dont have to deal with sending in a rebate. If you Pre-ordered, you have to pay $149 then send in the $50 rebate.

Cool, thanks “Coop” for the information. I’m just hoping that it’s valid. Not doubting you, but just cautiously optimistic since we’ve all had so many dates thrown at us as to when the unit MAY be available to purchase. Thanks again though…

I spoke to a lady today and she said that her supervisor told her the phone would be in in a week or so. What is the actual release date for it? I pre-ordered but have not gotten any emails. She also said if I pre-ordered I would get an email the day before saying the phone is coming out. Does anyone know the truth?

i stopped by the store a few mins ago the phone in the back she said they got to add it to their inventory so u can purchase it tomorrow 149.99 with 50 dollar rebate i pre-ordered mine like october 5

One more thing. My friend said the email they are sending out today, will take you through the ordering process, then you will pick the phone up at the store on Thursday. He also thinks the phone will be available for in-store purchasing on Monday.

I got my phone around 4pm today. My buddy called and let me come get it today instead of tomorrow. Their boss told them to call some people on the list and get some of these orders out of the way. He said tomorrow is going to be one crazy day with all these people coming in. This phone is awesome. If you have never owned an HTC, like me, then I recommend watching some of the reviews about this phone on the youtube site. I have been watching reviews on it for the past 2 weeks. And that definately helped me out with customizing my phone. If you go into this phone with no idea how to work it, then you be lost.
What a great phone once you get it all set up. I love it.
