by: Vinny MarinoJanuary 13, 2012

Yesterday at CES 2012 I had the chance to take a look at the LG Spectrum for Verizon Wireless. Let me tell you this handset is set for success from a spec list stand point, the LG Spectrum is coming packed with a 4.5 measured screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 making the display look absolutely beautiful, 4G LTE connectivity, 8MP camera with LED flash capable of 1080p video recording, a 1.3 MP camera on the front, running 2.3.5 Gingerbread behind LG’s custom UI, all of this powered by a massively fast 1.5 GHZ Snapdragon processor!

Overall the design of the phone is comfortable and feels really nice in your hand, it doesn’t feel to big like you would [...]

Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch Full Video Review and Hands-on

by: Vinny MarinoOctober 18, 2011

Just like its international variant, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch on the Sprint network packs the same 1.2-GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor. However, the Sprint variant has a larger 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display that is simply stunning.

The Epic 4G Touch also includes other impressive specs such as an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording abilities, a 2.0-megapixel secondary camera for video chat, a 1800-mAh battery for exceptional battery life–all packed into a super thin, sleek design measuring only 9.66 mm thick.  Pulling the strings together underneath is Samsung TouchWiz 4.0 on top of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.

Unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch for Sprint [Video]

by: Vinny MarinoOctober 10, 2011

The Galaxy S II is arguably the Android king of the year, and after a long wait, it’s finally come over to Sprint.  Today, I unbox Sprint’s Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. This device has some outstanding specs including a 1.2 GHz dual-core Exynos processor, a gorgeous 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording, and runs Android 2.3 with Samsung’s TouchWiz 4.0 right out of the box.  It’s available on Sprint for $199.99.

My first impression of this device is that it’s simply stunning. Holding it, and looking into that beautiful display simply pulls you in. The phone is fast and I have seen nothing close [...]

Best Apps to Customize your Android Device

by: Vinny MarinoSeptember 26, 2011

It’s a pretty safe assumption that everyone enjoys a little customization when it comes to their Android device. So, today I’m going to run you through some of the best apps to customize your Android phone.

Go Launcher ex (Free)

Go Launcher Ex is an app with many options for customization. This app will replace your default home launcher (HTC Sense, Motorola’s Platform, and Samsung’s Touchwiz) to a new highly customizable interface. Options such as transition effects, hiding apps in the app drawer (that you don’t use), custom themes, and choosing how many home screens you want are a few of the many options available.

Beautiful Widgets [...]

Some of the Best Apps of 2011 [Video]

by: Vinny MarinoSeptember 16, 2011

Like most Android fanatics, I get asked almost everyday what I consider the best apps for Android to be. There are literally hundreds of thousands of apps to choose from, and choosing the best apps for you can be a personal experience, and often a matter of personal taste. That being said, I sat down and really deliberated what apps deserve to be mentioned here. And so, dear app searcher, here are a few apps that I consider to be some of the best free apps of 2011.

5. Ringdroid

Ringdroid is an app that I use very often, as it lets you customize your ringtones and notification tones using music you have on your phone. It allows you to trim and select an exact moment [...]

App Review: Battle of Launchers — Launcher Pro Plus vs Go Launcher Ex

by: Vinny MarinoSeptember 9, 2011

Android comes in different  “flavors.” First, there’s the official and unadulterated Android flavor which can be tasted on the Nexus One and the Nexus S (and, definitely on the upcoming Nexus Prime). Then, there’s Samsung TouchWiz, which can be found on Samsung phones such as the Samsung DROID Charge. Then, we have HTC Sense, which can be found on the HTC Sensation 4G. There’s also the controversial MOTOBLUR, which can be found on the Motorola Atrix 4G and other Android-based Motorola devices.

Among other things, the various “flavors” of Android differ primarily in look and feel, especially in the home launcher.  Many buyers of new Android devices [...]

7-Step Guide to Installing Any Android Keyboard on Your Android Phone

by: Vinny MarinoSeptember 8, 2011

Many Android users often envy other users who have different and much better keyboards on their Android devices. When I first got my Motorola DROID 2, I hated the keyboard that came with it and envied anyone who had an HTC phone with the HTC keyboard.  I wanted to replace the stock keyboard on my phone with that from HTC phones.  Unfortunately, such keyboard as well as other great ones such as Swype, Samsung Keypad, and HTC Touch Input are not available on the Android Market.

Today, it is possible to load any keyboard onto your Android phone.  The process is not well-known, but it has been around for quite some time.  This guide will teach you how to install any [...]

Game App Review: Madden NFL 12 by EA Sports

by: Vinny MarinoSeptember 2, 2011

Madden NFL 12 was just released last month for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, just in time for football season starting this September 11. What you might not know is that Madden NFL 12 by EA Sports was also released for Android.  This game is for all of you Android-toting football fanatics out there.

Madden NFL 12 costs US$6.99 from the Android Market, and that may or may not be too steep for you. Being a huge football fan myself, I would recommend this game to football lovers, as this game is truly worth more than its price.  Casual game players, however, might not find that much value for money in this game app.

If you’re a football fan, this game [...]
