Samsung SHW-M130L Galaxy U Android smartphone with Super AMOLED display announced

In South Korea yesterday, Samsung presented its newest phone, the SHW-M130L Galaxy U. The Galaxy U features specs similar to its brethren, the Galaxy S, like a a gorgeous Super AMOLED touchscreen display. The Galaxy U’s display is slightly smaller, though, at 3.7-inches. The Galaxy U also offers an optical trackpad below the display screen. The new handset also offers a speedy 1GHz processor, a 5mp camera with HD video recording, 8GB of on-board storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, and T-DMB support. The phone will retail for 800,000 Won (US$682). Cricket has announced the immediate availability of its new Android smartphone, the Sanyo Zio M6000 by Kyocera. The new Zio features a large and colorful 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2mp camera/camcorder, GPS, and Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. T-Mobile G2 HSPA+ Android smartphone gets pictured

The recently confirmed G2 smartphone that is headed for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network has been captured in the wild, according to the folks over at Engadget. The G2, the successor to T-Mobile’s G1, looks to sport a full four row slide-out QWERTY keyboard and possibly an optical trackpad for navigation.

Virgin Media in the UK confirmed that its HTC Desire and Wildfire handsets will be getting the Android 2.2 Froyo update in September. Via its Twitter account, Virgin Media tweeted “MOBILE: HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire – great news, we’re expecting to release OTA updates to 2.2 (Froyo) early Sep :).” Right on schedule with HTC’s statement that Froyo would roll out starting Q3 of this year. A new internal document has surfaced showing what appears to be the Motorola Stingray, a device that could possibly be the company’s Android tablet that we are expecting to see before the year’s end. The Stingray is expected to feature a large 10-inch touchscreen display and a speedy NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. Sprint HTC EVO 4G Froyo update has calendar bug

Users that have downloaded Sprint’s Android 2.2 Froyo update for the HTC EVO 4G handsets are reporting Calendar issues. A person on Google’s bug submission page has offered up some interesting information. According to the post: When editing a calendar entry, on all calendars, the ‘Description’ field is being overwritten with the contents of the ‘Where’ field. It did not do this with 2.1. The beta version for Android was announced via Twitter from TweetDeck’s developer and should be available shortly. Google updates Gesture Search for Android, adds double flip feature

Google added a new feature to its Gesture Search app, a double flip feature. The Gesture Search app lets users search by writing specific gestures on-screen and with the newly updated app, users can flip their phones sideways and back-up to automatically engage the Gesture Search function. The new application is available on Google’s Gesture Search website.
