Staying updated on the latest Android version is not an easy thing, most especially if your device manufacturer is slow in updating its devices. Some updates take weeks or months to complete, and some of them still have bugs, despite being an official release. One of the most common solutions for updating firmware and flashing modified kernels or hacks is through the use of ClockworkMod Recovery.

There are many advantages of having custom recovery software installed on your phone. One of them is the fact that you can install custom ROMs, kernels, and hacks easily. Thanks to aorth from the XDA Developers Forum, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus GT-P6210 can finally enjoy the privileges of ClockworkMod Recovery. Installing the recovery software is easy.

This guide shows you how to flash ClockworkMod Recovery for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus P6210.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727 will be receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update real soon and in two flavors: the official version (from AT&T and Samsung) and the unofficial version (via custom ROMs). In order to flash such updates manually and without using OTA, you need to have recovery software installed on your phone.

One of the popular recovery tools out there is TWRP Recovery. What makes it popular is the fact it features a touch user interface, which is a relief from stock recovery or from ClockworkMod Recovery’s button-mashing navigation. Having such a recovery tool is vital as it is the stepping stone in the road to customization.

Custom ROMs come in all sorts of flavors and one of the interesting builds out there is the phablet version that combines phone and tablet user interfaces. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll be familiar with the name ParanoidAndroid.

Thanks to XDA Developers member KBizzle, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch SPH-D710 on Sprint will now be able to experience this new breed of ROM which is unique in many ways because it will turn any phone into a hybrid with tablet capabilities while remaining as sleek as a phone.

The ParandoidAndroid ROM is powered by Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and brings a ton of features, including a smooth buttery interface, expandable notifications, a smart keyboard layout, a faster web browser and a whole lot more.

The tablet-like user interface is great for phones like the Sprint Epic 4G Touch as it will transform your phone into a versatile piece of hardware that allows you to scale and size different applications. However, don’t expect this ROM to be bug-free, as it is still a work in progress.

Whenever Android users have a new phone or tablet in their hands, they just can’t resist the urge to modify it and to install ClockworkMod Recovery on it. The greatest advantage when you have recovery software installed on your tablet is that you can easily install custom ROMs, hacks, and kernels in just a couple of minutes.

Installing ClockworkMod Recovery can be done in many ways. The most common is through Odin, but there’s a less-known flashing tool: Heimdall Suite. It is a cross-platform opensource tool used to flash software to Samsung Galaxy S series devices. Heimdall also shares some few traits with Odin software, and they are basically identical in terms of functionality.

Thanks to XDA Developers member aorth, you can flash the custom recovery to your tablet easily through Heimdall.

One of the most interesting custom ROMs out there that combines both the functionality of a tablet while remaining as compact as a smartphone is the ParanoidAndroid ROM. Owners of the Sony Xperia Arc LT15i who have always wanted to have a tablet UI can take the advantage of the ParanoidAndroid ROM because it makes efficient use of the phone’s screen for displaying more information and allowing the scaling applications’ display into different interface sizes.

Not only will you receive a completely different ROM in terms of user interface; ParanoidAndroid also inherits the speed and stability of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean by bringing new features to the table like a smooth buttery interface, offline typing, voice recognition by Google, faster web browser, and whole lot more. Keep in mind this is still a work in progress so don’t be surprised if you manage to stumble upon some bugs.

One of the slimmest and most lightweight ROMs out there is the Slim Bean ROM. For Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-I997 owners, this ROM is one-of-a-kind, as it is very small in size, light on resources, and has been stripped of the “useless” stuff that you can find in stock ROMs.

Even though its been stripped of its padding, it does not compromise on bringing you all the features of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Slim Bean still manages to bring you a smooth user-interface, actionable notifications, smart keyboard, and the rest of the Jelly Bean features.

This is not the official ROM endorsed by Samsung and may still contains some disabled features and bugs. If you’ve always wanted to have an ultra-lightweight ROM, then this is your chance.

Custom Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROMs are everywhere and it’s no surprise to see the latest Jelly Bean update being ported to many Android devices through custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod and AOKP. The HTC Incredible S is lucky — a new Jelly Bean-based custom ROM for it has arrived.

Known as the Jelly Bean EVOLUTION ROM and developed by XDA Developers member Nikhil007 basing on AOKP Jelly Bean sources, the said custom ROM provides a lightning-fast Android 4.1.1 experience with a host of customization features, such as being able to configure under-the-hood settings by tweaking your phone’s user interface while bringing along a host of awesome Jelly Bean features.

This is not the official Jelly Bean ROM endorsed by HTC but rather a custom ROM that is currently under heavy development. Don’t be surprised if you find some bugs present in the ROM.

A few weeks ago, a surprise leak of the official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware for the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 surfaced and it gave users a glimpse of how the official Android 4.1.1 ROM looks once it’s officially released. Owners of the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 can also rejoice because the leaked T-Mobile Galaxy S3 firmware has been ported to the said phone, thanks to XDA Developers member myn.

If you want to try out the official T-Mobile Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware on your Sprint Galaxy S3, then here’s your chance to do it. What’s even better is that the official ROM is already pre-rooted and retains much of the original software, including T-Mobile’s exclusive applications.

Even though this is actually a leak of an official ROM, it still needs a lot of work and hence some bugs may still be present.

The Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 is an awesome multimedia device powered by a 1 GHz processor and a huge 5.0-inch screen. Since its launch, the Galaxy Player 5.0 came with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box.
In the past couple of days, numerous Samsung Galaxy S3 updates were leaked, one of the latest is software version UVDLI8 of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for the T-Mobile variant (SGH-T999). XDA Developers member djintrigue808 has taken advantage of the leaked OTA update and crafted his very own custom ROM known as FrostyJB.

FrostyJB is pretty much the same as the UVDLI8 Jelly Bean ROM leak, but it has been modified so that it can easily be flashed using ClockworkMod Recovery. Basically, all the essential Jelly Bean features are present in the ROM like the smooth buttery interface, Google Voice, smarter keyboard, and the faster web browser. What’s even better is that FrostyJB is already rooted and has also been stripped of all T-Mobile bloatware.
