BlackBerry OS 7 May Contain Android Code

by: Edmund ApostolSeptember 1, 2011

BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) just officially released their OS 7 this August. There are rumors that parts of the programming in this latest BlackBerry platform, specifically version may actually contain some coding compatible with or similar to the Android operating system and application development framework.

BlackBerry OS 7 made its first public appearance in the smartphone scene when images of its user interface were leaked online in the first quarter of this year. It was still then known as OS 6.1.

True or not, this piece of gossip is not entirely surprising. RIM did acquire fellow Canadian software development company QNX [...]

Sony announced that triple-A game titles will be coming soon for the Xperia Play. The statement was given this week in Gamescom, one of the biggest trade fair events for video games held every year in Cologne, Germany.

by: Edmund ApostolAugust 17, 2011

Chinese mobile company Xiaomi recently announced that it’s coming out with a smartphone called the Xiaomi M1. Naturally this would be the one Android phone that’s specifically built around the customized Android user interface MIUI. Unlike what the earlier reports stated however, the M1 or Xiaomi phone is going to be driven by a faster processor and may also be released at a lower price. The targeted date for release is October and customers can pre-order the handset by August 29.

Instead of the 1.2 GHz dual-core chip that was initially announced, the Xiaomi phone’s CPU is actually going be a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 SoC. Given that it’s a Snapdragon [...]

Samsung Celox Could Be the Droid Bionic’s Nemesis

by: Edmund ApostolAugust 14, 2011

Rumors are going around that the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a younger brother named Celox that looks almost like it. Speculations of its features point that it can be the biggest rival Motorola’s Droid Bionic will have to face on the 4G LTE arena.

According to the buzz, Droid Bionic is supposed to be released this September. If any of its assumed features are true, then its future contemporaries on Verizon’s 4G LTE network – the Samsung Droid Charge and HTC Thunderbolt, won’t be a match for this Android superphone.

The Samsung Celox on the other hand is a different story. The face-off is not likely going to happen in Verizon’s backyard as the Celox [...]
