This device looks very similar to the LG Star that we have already given some read-time too. The difference allegedly being that the LG Optimus 2X is a dual-core equivalent. In a video presented after the break, we get to see the Optimus 2X apparently wipe the floor with the Samsung Galaxy S. Of course, eventually there always had to be a new phone that drastically out-performed the Galaxy S, but to see it so soon is a rather surprise encounter.

Although I am not familiar with this particular benchmarking test, the difference in performance as shown by the video is most likely due to the dual-core nature of the Optimus 2X. Either way, it certainly casts an interesting foreshadow of what is to come from these dual-core devices. Remember, in theory they will be much less power intensive too.

YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE

LG Star Android Tegra 2 smartphone hands-on

Samsung dual-core Android 2.3 smartphone

myTouch HD from T-Mobile to be first dual-core to market?

This article, LG Optimus 2X a dual-core LG Star? , was originally published at AndroidAuthority.com - Your Android News Source.

Motorola’s 10-inch Honeycomb tablet to land on Verizon

Android Tablets

Motorola

Engadget have posted a number of blurry cam photos of a new Motorola Android tablet that appears to be landing with Verizon. The general idea is that you do not have to type the whole thing in order to find what you are looking for and the whole search experience is quicker.

This feature is now available for Android devices worldwide, but you will have to enable it first. In order to do so you should browse to www.google.com on your mobile Android device, and make sure you have not accidentally taken yourself to a page already containing search results (like I did). Once you are at the main Google home-page, you should see a little phrase under the search box saying ‘Google Instant (beta): Off’. You should be able to click this to turn it on. Once you do so, you can start typing in a search query and the results will load up, as promised. If you have a fast 3G connection, or better yet, Wi-Fi, Google Instant works very well, although this feature certainly works best on devices with bigger screens. If you want to find out more about Google Instant for Android, check out the source.

[Source: Google]

YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE

Google begin instant search for Android

Google Instant now offical on mobile

ODROID releases a worldwide developer edition of its Android-powered handheld gaming system

This article, Google Instant for Android going worldwide , was originally published at AndroidAuthority.com - Your Android News Source.

Notion Ink Adam available for pre-order at $375.33

Android News

Notion Ink

For those that signed up, Notion Ink’s Adam will become available for pre-order at 00:00 AM tomorrow Indian Standard Time (IST), which is 1.30pm EST today (9th December) in the States. For the rest of us, we can get involved 6 hours later. As Notion Ink point out, their launch has made them the number 2 blog on WordPress after Oprah Winfrey. But enough of that, let’s remind ourselves of what the Adam has going for it.

First of all, it runs their own build of Android called Eden, which is based on Android 2.3 but brings many of the features Honeycomb is alleged to offer. It also has a NVidia Dual Core Tegra 250 Processor. This is one of the main talking points for this device. It also offers a choice of displays, including a back-lit LCD or a transflective Pixel Qi display. The latter is more suited to reading in bright sun-light and works more like an eReader display. The Adam also offers a rather cool 185 degree swivel camera for taking pictures of yourself, or what is around you. Furthermore, it provides a full 1080p HD Video output through HDMI along with a host of connectivity options including GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Pricing starts at $375.33 for the entry level while adding 3G makes it cost $425.33 while the transflective Pixel Qi model will cost $499.95 (Wi-Fi version) $549.99 (3G versions).

For more information on the Adam, head on over to the official website, or their WordPress blog.

YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE

Notion Ink’s Adam to cost $498

Notion Ink Adam to launch with Android 2.2

Notion Ink’s Android-powered tablet to be called Adam, launch June 2010?

This article, Notion Ink Adam available for pre-order at $375.33 , was originally published at AndroidAuthority.com - Your Android News Source.

Samsung Galaxy S to receive Gingerbread update

Android News

Android 2.3

Gingerbread

Samsung

Samsung Galaxy S

Since the recent official announcement of Android 2.3 and the unveiling of the Google Nexus S produced by Samsung, many people have speculated as to whether the Samsung Galaxy S series of phones will receive an update to Android 2.3 as well.
