You’ve got to hand it to Symbian. It held the top smartphone spot for quite some time until Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android eventually toppled the platform in terms of user base. I had been a big fan of Symbian since its early EPOC days, and I’ve had my share of Symbian-powered smartphones from the Symbian-powered Nokia communicator series to a 2008 E-series, which was my last Symbian device.

On YouTube, the live coverage of Felix Baumgartner’s near-space jump (23 miles or 39 kilometers high) and supersonic skydiving stunt as part of the Red Bull Stratos project garnered 8 million concurrent views from around the world.

Softbank has been eyeing the U.S. market for some time now, reports Reuters, and sources say the telecoms company is in talks with three banks in Japan to finance its acquisition bid. Sources close to the matter say Softbank plans to borrow 1.8 trillion yen (US$ 23 billion) in order to fund its acquisition.

Google is rolling out an incremental update to its official app store, Google Play. We earlier reported that Google Play version 3.9.16 is already rolling out, and we now focus on a feature that may be minor but still important for folks who install a lot of apps. This new update comes with the ability to remove apps listed under the “All Apps” list.
