Remember when old clocks used to signal every hour on the hour so that you always had a good idea of what time it was?  Thanks to TimeSignal, you can now experience this on your Android device.  TimeSignal is an app developed by Luck of Wise which does exactly what the name implies, signals the time.  This simplistic app takes very little battery life and has shockingly only been downloaded 100-500 times on the Android Market.

Say hello to the first live picture of the HTC Bravo.  The picture, uncovered by Omio, shows some interesting hardware design cues such as an optical joystick, asymmetrical button interface and physical buttons as opposed to the touch sensitive type.  Rumored to be launching with T-Mobile UK sometime in March and possibly free with a 2 year contract, this device is said to be toe to toe with Google’s Nexus One in terms of specs.  Current officially known specs are a 3.7-inch display with multitouch capabilities, 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus, the newest iteration of Android OS, updated Sense UI,…

Droid owners, it’s time to start getting excited.  Rumor has it that the new OTA update that is being rolled out right now is said to be part 1 of 2 and is actually a preparation for the update to 2.1.  The first OTA update, coming in at 61MB, was previously reported to have fixed a Facebook app glitch that prevented users from downloading the latest version.  While this is true, the sheer size of the update seems to offer more than a minor glitch fix.  After a little digging, people are also reporting that all internal testing is done…

Google announced, just one day before releasing two brand new Android devices to China, that both releases will be delayed indefinitely due to intensifying battle between Google and China’s censorship laws.  The devices, both set to launch with China Unicom included one Motorola device and one Samsung device.  Google is currently in a heated battle with China after a cyber attack was supposedly launched by China’s government against Google in an effort to try and gather information about key Chinese human rights advocates by accessing their Gmail accounts.  This problem has gotten so large that the United States government, led…

Arriving late to the party, the official Fandango Movies app has finally made its way to the Android Market and joins Apple, RIM and Palm, which have been enjoying it for some time.  Fandango Movies app provides a mobile Fandango experience with everything you’d expect including the ability to stream movie trailers, check local movie times, and review movie details and ratings.  However, the greatest feature is the ability to purchase tickets directly from your phone, something that no other movie app currently offers.  Hit the jump for a more in depth look and a gallery showing off its interface.

Engadget has gotten an exclusive tip from a “trusted” source revealing the codename and details of what could possibly be the first 4G Android device to hit the market.  Codenamed “Supersonic”, the device is made by HTC and will launch on Sprint with WiMAX capability.  Here are the official bullet points taken from Engadget: Codename is “Supersonic” — a name we’ve heard at least once before. Feels a lot like you’d expect an Android-powered HD2 to feel thanks to a 4.3-inch non-AMOLED display and a svelte shell. (For reference, the HD2 is 11mm thick, but we don’t have exact dimensions here.) It’s…

According to an Engadget exclusive interview with Erick Tseng, Senior Product Manager for Android, the next iteration of Android will be codenamed Froyo.  It will not be called Flan, as we reported back in July, and no release window or other details have been said regarding the next iteration.  Froyo, short for frozen yogurt, fits in line with Google’s alphabetical dessert loving scheme and the web is already abuzz with the letter “G”.  Ginger, gelatin, gelato, and ganache come to mind but since Google threw us a curve ball here, I would say that anything is possible.  Please note that…

Rumor: Droid successor to be crowned with Nexus Two title?

Chock this one up for the ole’ rumor column, but word out of Engadget is that the render you see to the right is called the Motorola Shadow, and it is the successor to the widely popular Droid.  What is more interesting however, is that this will actually be donned with the Nexus Two title. Google was recently heard saying that there would be other Nexus phones, and that an enterprise version would include a keyboard.  So while it makes some sense that the Motorola Shadow could be this Nexus Two, it also seems very far fetched.  Would Motorola really…

Just when you thought that the news regarding HTC’s Dream and Rogers had all been resolved comes this scary little glitch making it unable for users to dial 911 while having GPS activated on their phone.  Rogers has pulled all HTC Dreams from online and retail locations until a software update is made available and has released this official statement regarding the issue: I’m writing to share some urgent news with our Rogers HTC Dream customers. We have contacted all of our Dream customers by text message asking them to disable GPS location on their HTC Dream device to ensure…

Hisense, not to be confused with Hivision, has revealed details on its first Android handset, called the HS-E90.  Official specifications include a 3.5 inch HVGA touchscreen display, CDMA / EVDO Rev. A connectivity, music and video players, Bluetooth, microSD card support, an FM radio, a 5MP autofocus camera, and a 1500 mAh battery that is rumored to last up to 4 hours.  While the hardware of this device looks to be sleek and sexy with a sort of minimalist feel to it, the overlaying UI leaves much to be desired. Running Android, Hisense has put its own twist on the…
