Hurricane Irene Blows Samsung Galaxy S II Unveiling One Day Away

Samsung Mobile had originally slated the much-anticipated variants of its global bestseller smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S II, for launch today, August 29, in New York City. However, owing to Hurricane Irene, the festivities had to be moved a day later–tomorrow, August 30.

As of this hour, CBC News reports that Hurricane Irene has slowed down into a tropical storm. This may mean that the sun will be up and about for tomorrow’s unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S II in New York.

With winds up to 115 mph, Hurrican Irene hit North Carolina’s Outer Bank on Saturday morning and wove through the eastern coast, bring rain all over parts of Virginia, Washington [...]

Samsung Galaxy Smartphones Using New Naming System to Be Launched at IFA 2011

Samsung Electronics recently announced a new naming system for its Samsung Galaxy family of smartphones and will unveil a batch of new Android-powered Galaxy smartphones using the new classification system at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA 2011), an international consumer electronics fair to be held in Berlin next month.

To simplify things to consumers, the different classes of smartphones will be categorized using single letters and will be further sub-classified according to specific functionality.

NVIDIA Cuts Ribbon for Web-based Tegra Zone

NVIDIA’s new site for Tegra-2-optimized games is now online at TegraZone.Com.  The new site, just as the Tegra Zone app that NVIDIA launched last March, allows users to browse Tegra-optimized games for Tegra-powered devices.

TegraZone’s appearance resembles the Tegra Zone app for Android found in Tegra 2 devices, with additional functionality for gamers to interact with each other. According to NVIDIA’s official announcement, the TegraZone site includes community forums where users can interact and discuss their favorite Tegra-optimized games.

One of the top global phone manufacturers, Sony Ericsson, has announced its newest innovation in its Walkman technology.
