Droid 4 Launch Date, Buy One Get One Free Sale, and Double Data

by: AlexanderFebruary 7, 2012

This friday is going to be a pretty big day for Verizon customers, especially those looking to pick up the Motorola Droid 4. The device is going to be $199 on a 2-year contract. But hang on that’s not all big red has in store for you.

Verizon Wireless is bringing back their famous Buy-one-get-one free offer on their colorful lineup of Droid Razr phones, which include the Droid Razr Maxx. They are also bringing back the double data promotion so you can get 4GB of 4G LTE data for only $30 with any smartphone purchase. But look, that’s still not all Verizon has in store for us.

If you know someone that’s still [...]

Monday Poll: Droid Bionic Soak Test, is it Ice Cream Sandwich or a Bug Fix Update?

by: AlexanderFebruary 6, 2012

Yesterday we started hearing about Motorola’s latest soak test for the Motorola Droid Bionic, and immediately people started thinking is it ICS or just a bug fixer update? Perhaps to fix the data drops that have been plaguing our Bionics. Other’s are hopeful that it could be Ice Cream Sandwich. At this point it could be either.

So in tonight’s poll, we are simply asking if you think the update Motorola will be testing is a bug fix like .902 or something newer, or if it could be the biggest upgrade in the history of Android, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

Either way we will find out what this update consists of in the next week or even sooner. [...]

Carrier Coverage is Carrier IQ the way the Consumer wants it

by: AlexanderFebruary 6, 2012

Just came across a cool new app in the market today, it’s Carrier Coverage. It basically tracks the coverage you are getting in a certain area and uploads it to it’s database. But don’t worry it takes your security and privacy seriously. It will help answer that age-old question of “Which carrier has the best coverage in this area?” This app already has some cool features, and the developer is already working on some new ones for the future:

Heatmaps Specific address reporting 3G vs 4G support Data speed reports International support Additional features based on user feedback

It’s a pretty great idea, and with the proper support from us [...]

This list is a bit different from the one that was recently released by Verizon. Hopefully this update will be out to everyone in the next week or two. We will keep you posted.

Full list below.

Android 4.0.5 Coming to Galaxy Nexus in March

by: AlexanderFebruary 6, 2012

According to French Mobile Site SFR (we are sorry for the image above, it’s hard to translate an image), Android 4.0.5 will be on the Galaxy Nexus in March. Over the weekend the update for Android 4.0.4 got pushed out to a couple Verizon Galaxy Nexus’ (and we mean only a couple), we are still waiting on the official update to get pushed to all of us.

We may not have Android 4.0.5 on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, but I’m pretty sure it will be out for the GSM version sometime in March. The GSM versions get updates sooner than the CDMA version usually. We will have to wait until March to see if Android 4.0.5 hits the Galaxy Nexus on time or not. In the meantime we [...]

Samsung Galaxy S3 to be only 7mm thick, Launching in May?

by: AlexanderFebruary 6, 2012

Korea’s Electronic Times News is adding to the rumors floating around the Galaxy S3, which will not be at Mobile World Congress this year, citing unnamed sources in their report claiming the phone will measure at just 7mm thick and will launch in May. The new flagship device is said to sport a 8mp or or a 12mp camera with a 2mp front-facing camera, Super AMOLED Plus Display and Android 4.0. Other rumors have said it will have 2GB of RAM for multi-tasking, along with a quad-core processor, and 4G LTE capabilities. If we get all of this goodness inside a 7mm thick frame, many people will be running to get one whenever it launches in the US.

Last year’s Galaxy S2 [...]

Tweakdeck gets Updated to Version r16

by: AlexanderFebruary 6, 2012

Yes Tweakdeck, it is spelled right. Tweakdeck is Tweetdeck with a few tweaks from the amazing developers at Modaco. It’s also my personal favorite twitter client for Android. There are a few differences between this app and Tweetdeck, the biggest is that Tweakdeck is blue like the newer version of Tweetdeck for your desktop. It’s also a bit faster and more fluid.

In the newest version of Tweakdeck, there aren’t to many changes. But they did remove the bird at Twitter’s request, and now Modaco’s icon is now part of it. They also made a donate version available which you can download simple by searching “Tweakdeck” in the [...]

White Galaxy Nexus Becomes Official, Hits the UK February 13th

by: AlexanderFebruary 6, 2012

Last month we heard rumors that Samsung would be producing a white Galaxy Nexus, now we have confirmation that the white Galaxy Nexus is indeed real and coming to the UK on February 13th. Samsung says that the white (GSM) Galaxy Nexus will be making its way to “a range of stores across the country” next Monday, February 13th.

Nothing to new with this version of the Galaxy Nexus, the only real difference is the color. Samsung has only announced it being available as the GSM model, so as of now it won’t be available in the US unless you decide to pay full price for it. We expect to hear about a white version of the Galaxy Nexus in LTE flavor soon since Verizon [...]

Motorola Preparing a new Soak Test for the Droid Bionic

by: AlexanderFebruary 5, 2012

It looks like Motorola is getting ready to do another soak test for the Droid Bionic, but is it for Ice Cream Sandwich or just a bug fix update which will hopefully prevent the infamous data drops we see constantly and get annoyed by. We have seen many reports that people are getting emails from Motorola’s Feedback Network about a soak test for their Droid Bionic.

We don’t know for sure what update this is, but we are betting it’s the 5.9.902 update that was leaked back in mid-january. Droid-Life has the changelog from that leak, and we have it listed below:

Remove VCast Music preload Add Amazon MP3 app preload Motorola Terms and Conditions screen [...]

Super Bowl XLVI Picks: Giants or Patriots?

by: AlexanderFebruary 5, 2012

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! The biggest day of the year in the NFL, this year we have the New England Patriots representing the AFC, and the New York Giants representing the NFC. Many are comparing this to the Super Bowl XLII in 2008 where the New England Patriots were undefeated until the New York Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl and killed their dreams of having a perfect season. Don’t forget if you’re a Verizon Wireless customer you can watch the game for free on your mobile device.

Another great part of the Super Bowl? The commercials, we  have heard that Chrysler is again airing a big commercial (I think I heard somewhere that it was going to be [...]
