Elmer is "a poet, a philosopher, a gifted writer, and a very nice man," says the equally poetic, philosophical, gifted, and nice Commander of Android Authority. Elmer loves freedom and responsibility--both epitomized by Android and the open source philosophy, which Elmer loves as passionately as the ideals whence they arise.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office recently published Samsung’s patent application for an earphone that seems to be a compact Bluetooth headset and smart glass rolled into one whose shape quickly calls to mind a familiar object in Dragon Ball Z — the scouter.
Samsung’s patent application referred to the device as simply the “Earphone.”
Here are the illustrations lifted from Samsung’s patent application filing for “Earphone”:
Is it the rumored Samsung Galaxy Gear Glass redesigned? Or is it a design for an entirely new product? No one knows yet, but the two are quite different enough to [...]
While Google was quick to patch its services to close the security hole caused by the Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL, the same bug may still be hounding millions of Android devices worldwide.
Google patched most of its services last week (including Search, Gmail, YouTube, Wallet, Play, Apps, and App Engine). Recently, the search company also updated the list of patched services to include Google AdWords, DoubleClick, Maps, Maps Engine, Earth, Analytics, and Tag Manager — all of which the company claims to have been patched last week but were “inadvertently left out” of the original list.
In the same announcement Google also declared all Android [...]

Samsung has put out a new 30-second ad for its latest baby, the Samsung Galaxy S5. In just a half minute, the ad courses through so many wonderful ideas and concepts, as well as fascinating phone features without losing track of its main emphases — what one’s life can be if it is powered by the Galaxy S5.
The narration itself explicitly characterizes that kind of life as being able to “capture life in a blink,” “download the world in an instant,” and “live carefree.” All of these are fueled by three of the Galaxy S5’s chief features: fast camera autofocus, fast network experience, and water and dust resistance [...]
Following this week’s discovery of the serious Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL, mobile security company Lookout released an Android tool that will help users detect the presence of the security vulnerability on their Android devices.
The Heartbleed bug allows malicious intruders to exploit a vulnerability in the OpenSSL library, thereby exposing confidential and encrypted data that were normally protected by SSL/TLS encryption.Vulnerability detection
Lookout’s detector app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and does nothing else but identify the OpenSSL version being used on the Android device, check for the existence of Heartbleed, [...]
