LG is planning to bring out in 2012 an updated and slimmer version of the LG Optimus 3D, one of the developers of the 3D handset told Pocket-lint early this week.
Henry Noh, who was on the development team for the LG Optimus 3D, explained that the current build of LG Optimus 3D isn’t the “ slimmest and sexiest phone on the street” and that they want to make it slimmer.

Google has officially announced an updated version of the Google Voice app for Android. The new version includes, among others, support for Honeycomb tablets.
The update answers the request of a lot of Honeycomb tablet users for a tablet-optimized version of the Google Voice app. The current version of the Google Voice app is 0.4.2.36 and is now available on the Android Market.
Honeycomb tablet users can now check voice mails, send messages, call cheaper international calls, and transcribe voice mails right on their Honeycomb tablet.

The British will now be able to enjoy Sony Ericsson’s new addition to its Xperia series of Android smartphones–the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray.
The phone is now available on Amazon UK for US$350 (about GBP350). Play.com also plans to make the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray available starting September 9 for US$466 (about GBP330).

Last week, Google finally announced the sought-after fix for the annoying Google Voice Search app bug for Nexus S phones. The over-the-air (OTA) update provides Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread for the Nexus S (Baseband I9020AUCKF1, Build Number GRK39C).
Paul Wilcox posted on the Google support forum that “an over-the-air update is now starting to roll out that includes a fix for this issue. As with previous updates, it will take a few days to send to everyone.”

Six hundred units of the initial batch of the MI-ONE smartphone have started shipping in China last week. The MI-ONE is manufactured by Xiaomi and comes preloaded with the MIUI custom ROM based off Android 2.3.5.
The price for each handset is reported to be YEN1,999 (roughly US$310).
No official announcements have been made yet as to the availability of the MI-ONE in other countries. The phone’s hardware was custom-made the Beijing-based company Xiaomi primarily intended for running the MIUI custom operating system, resulting in a fascinating custom-made Android phone named MI-One. Lenovo unveiled its newest Android 2.3 Gingerbread tablet—called the IdeaPad A1—at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA 2011) conference in Berlin.
Lenovo has not officially announced pricing or release dates for this 7-inch tablet, but reports say the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 will be released some time this month at a price of only US$199 for the 8-GB model.
Unfortunately, Lenovo will not be releasing 8-GB models in the U.S. Instead, reports say 16-GB and 32-GB models will be released for US$249 and US$299, respectively.

Toshiba has made it official. The AT200 is Toshiba’s codename for their ultra-thin Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet to succeed the earlier Toshiba THRiVE.
According to Toshiba, the tablet will be 7.7 mm thick and weighs about 558 grams, making it one of the thinnest Honeycomb tablets ever made.
Toshiba did not provide pricing or availability for the super-slim tablet, but it’s reasonable to expect a release date sooner than later.
