By Bams Sadewo July 4, 2012 3 17 0 3 Folks in Australia aren’t celebrating their official national day until January 26, but owners of Sony Xperia S in the country will certainly have something to be merry and gleeful about. According to Sony Mobile Australia, the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for Xperia S is being rolled out starting today.Advertisement As reported by AusDroid, here’s what the company wrote on their Facebook page: “Great news, the software upgrade for Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on Xperia™ S has begun. Your network providers will send a SMS notification directly to your phone when the upgrade is available to download.” Notice that the post said that owners will be notified via SMS of the ICS update. This has actually been corrected in the comments section. Owners of the phone will receive a software notification on their phone, not through SMS. Aside from checking for the update the old-fashioned way of going to the phone’s setting menu, you can also check via the PC Companion software. For folks who are on Optus, you may have to sit this one out and wait for further announcement for the upgrade. As for the rest, enjoy the fresh Ice Cream Sandwich treat on your Xperia S. 3 17 0 previous postRumor: Google releasing 10″ Android tablet this fallnext postMotorola XT897 gets FCC certification, headed to Sprint as the Photon Q 4G LTE?
