If you have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III, you’re in for a treat today. It has been announced that AT&T will begin rolling out the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The roll out starts today. So if you haven’t received your notification yet, you should in the very near future.
In order to receive it the update, people will have to be on a WiFi connection. It’s also never a bad idea to plug it into a charger. No one wants their battery to die during an update. So be sure both conditions apply beforehand. If you haven’t gotten the notification yet, go into the settings menu, tap About Phone, and manually search.
The update could feature most, if not all, of the same features the international Galaxy S III received when it was updated. This includes multi-window capabilities and Page Buddy. Also, all the performance goodies that comes with Jelly Bean such as Project Butter.
Well, according to Engadget, the update has actually been available since December. However, in order to get it, people would’ve had to install Samsung Kies. That can be tedious and many don’t like Kies. It was kept on the down low, but it was there. This is just AT&T launching it officially over the air.
So for most, this will be the first word of an update to Jelly Bean. Have any AT&T customers upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1 yet? If you have, let us know how you like it so far!

I did the JB update via Kies back in December. The process went well, but my Galaxy S3 now has some really irritating behavior differences since the update. (1) The notification light no longer works for incoming texts or voice messages. (2) With stock email client for non-gmail accounts, the screen automatically dims–this turned out to be fixable but took many hours combining through different forums to find that fix. Bottom line … does my phone work better after the update? NO!!!
How’d you fix it? What settings?
This worked for me. Settings > Power Saving Mode > uncheck Background color
Im on a jelly bean GS3. I dont think I have multi window. Everything works fine thougn.
There hasn’t been any real info about the update itself, just that it exists. Thanks for the info! The “premium suite” stuff must not be ready for the US variants yet :)
The update does not have multi-window capabilites or page buddy. Granted I updated by Kies in December, but I think it would really stupid if OTA update is different than the Kies update. Either way we are in the US so we won’t get the international update for a while, if ever…
