Samsung Galaxy S4 owners have been enjoying Android 4.3 since last October, and finally Galaxy S4 Active customers are receiving the update too. The 4.3 Jelly Bean update appears to come in at a rather large 721MB, so you’ll probably want to connect to WiFi before starting the download.
Interestingly, AT&T hasn’t uploaded the official changelog notes yet and actually took an online version down from its website last week. Perhaps the update was supposed to launch earlier but was pulled for a last minute bug fix. Currently there’s no official acknowledgement that the update is live, although it seems to be rolling out far and wide.
Here’s what to expect with the update, according to the previously posted changelog:
- Android 4.3 OS upgrade
- Samsung Galaxy Gear compatibility
- Drag and drop to uninstall or disable applications
- AT&T Signature Experience preloads such as Kindle, Lookout, City ID, Password Keeper, Games and AT&T Mobile Protection.
As well as the upgrade to Android 4.3 the update also changes the handset’s baseband version to I537UCUBML2. If your Galaxy S4 Active hasn’t updated yet, it can’t hurt to force a manual check via settings > about phone > check of updates.
